New hires have a good chance of getting ORD. Keep in mind that if you get S5 ORD, you will never be able to cross over (under the current contract) to the RW side as an FO. So you could be stuck on reserve as S5 ORD, while people junior to you could end up with great lines at RW ORD. That said, there should be enough FOs upgrading out of S5 ORD that I think both sides are likely to offer good movement.

How long to hold a line is anyone's guess. For RW ORD, it would likely be months if not weeks of reserve.

Attrition is steady, but we are a big pilot group. Losing 30 pilots out of 3000 doesn't really make a huge difference in seniority progression.

Upgrade times: Right now, most junior CA awarded is about July 2007 hire (almost a 6 year upgrade). We have over 200 planes now (excluding F9), so an additional 47 jets will grant some new upgrades, but it's not going to provide a quick upgrade for anyone coming here as a new hire. Attrition to the majors is really the only thing that will get a 2013 hire into the left seat within the next decade.
This is a good AND valid summary for anyone asking.

Exactly. Anyone who says Colgan "didn't have any problems" is new to the industry - Every Continental ops out there HATED Colgan, no end to crew issues and mx issues on the big Q ... and that little detail of killing 50 people.

One more thing regarding ORD for Shuttle and Republic is that within 2 years the program should be complete for all EMB pilots to fly the 170 & 175 regardless of cert; base swapping should become easier.

Reminds me of XE when the jungle jets came online. My cousin was over there when I was in high school. Think they had all kinds of fadec or something with the electronic engine control issues.

Please don't come here until we have a new contract.

That is the company's line.

To all that are considering coming here: think of yourself as certificate/type locked until upgrade. Setting any expectation for swapping is going to lead to disappointment.

Is there any movement concerning your contract talks? I would think the Teamsters could bring some type of pressure to bare on the NMB. Best of luck to you all.

Wow 6 years, that's not too bad! It took my buddy over at Eagle over 8 years and another 12 years at Horizon.

Yeah, but all it takes is the Chautauqua pilots coming over to Republic (due to CHQ closure) to make our upgrade times as long as Eagle and Horizon. And if I were a betting man....

No news, no hope. Teamsters is useless in this battle.

Well if that did happen then the 50 new 175s would even that out. I don't think teamsters is the problem but the railway labor act is to blame.
