That's your solution? McDonald's? Sorry but you offer no valuable advice. Guess I'll just work there till a major picks me up.

Yeah, buddy. If they're that price-sensitive,screw em'.Fares are unrealistically low.As long as the Wall Street crowd think no one deserves a career but them, this is the way it will be.

My valuable advice is for folks to take pride in their profession and not work for slave wages. My wife is a physician, if I asked her to work for this kind of pay I would get punched in the face.

Ok enough negativity. There are at least a few hundred if not thousand pilots on here so someone can come up with something besides how "things will never change" or "problem with regionals is pilots working for low wages".

We all know what the problems are. We all know how management turns us against each other and it's no more evident then on here and we all know how our hands are tied because of the RLA.

My question is what do we do about it? If you don't think anything can be done then please just don't respond. If you want to further analyze the issues please keep that to yourself because we all know that too.

We and especially the pilots before us dug a pretty big hole for us and something needs to be done aboutit. Even if you leave to go to the majors because pretty soon most of that flying will be done by RAH too.

It's easy to tell people what not to do but harder to give advice on what to do instead while paying the bills and furthering their career.

I'm curious to hear your life story if you don't mind sharing. I'm curious how we can all learn how to "wait for the majors" like you're doing without relying on mommy and dady for money or just giving up on the industry all together.

I wish I had a wife that was a high paid physician too! Then I wouldn't need the money and I would immediately quit this BS regional job and just do fun stuff until something awesome came along.

Not knocking you.. but it sounds like you are coming from a position that a lot of us just aren't in, with financial options we just don't have. I agree though, working at regional's for crap wages with our education, training, responsibility, and time away is BS. Consider yourself lucky to be able to just "pass" on that..

I would never in a million years do this airline thing over again if I could go back in time and start over..

Easy, I am making a lot more money than I would at a regional flying part 135, plus I own my own business that does very well. I thought hard about going to the regionals to try to give me some 121 experience on top of my mil experience, but decided not to work for those wages and crummy QOL. I am also in the process to go back into the guard/reserves flying part time for additional currency. I would like to know how a first year FO pays the bills, especially with a family. I guess if you are cool with state aid and WIC, you could do it. I am not bashing the regionals or anyone who works there, but when is this madness of accepting these kind of wages going to stop? Everyone can thank their predecessors for doing this to our profession. Also, every time management makes a SNAFU they come running to the pilots, FAs, maintainers, etc to take a pay cut. How about holding these idiots accountable for putting the company in that place to begin with?

What would it take to add $5 to each ticket? I don't think $5 extra is a deal breaker (especially considering these regional flights go into airports where there is little to no competition e.g. ORD-SPI or MSN-HIB). You could add $32,000 a year to flight crew pay per year. I figure it as a half full 50-seater (25*$5/3 crew members = $41.66 per leg). Given 4 4-days per month with 16 legs per trip ( avg. 768 legs/year * $41.60 extra per leg = $31,948.80)

Management could easily do this, but the extra revenue would go into management's pockets, and not the aircrew. Don't give em any ideas!

There aren't enough part 135 jobs for 10,000 regional pilots so that won't work.
