I didn't say anyone needed to take concessions I am simply stating the reality that there will be no shortage and therefore no leverage. Sorry but unicorns do not exist in the regional world. There will be no shortage and the sky will not fall. Every week there is someone swearing that no one showed up to class. Haven't heard any facts to back it up just wishful thinking. It is hilarious how convinced people are about this mythical shortage. Airlines like lakes may very well go away but there are very small cogs in the machine. There is no pot of gold to be had at the regionals. Mainline pits us all against each other because they can. Sorry I am a realist and I know we will not band together, pinnacle was the first group to bend, many more will follow. The internet is an atrocious sample of how people will vote on things.

Did you ever notice I never mentioned a "shortage", like you keep repeating? Apparently you are agreeing with my contention that there is no need for anyone to take concessions(which was my main point)!

Secondly, the fact that Republic and Eagle are offering $5000.00, is a sign that pay/benefits/quality of life are already too low for them to fill their current new hire requirements... They aren't giving away the money just because management suddenly turned all sweet and cuddly! It's because it's STARTING to get more difficult for them to fill their first officer positions with the existing crummy pay and benefits!!! Comprende???

I sure do, and I am saying there are plenty of uneconomical 50 seat planes to be parked at both companies if they can't fill classes. There is no leverage is all I am saying. People can refuse pay cuts and I agree they are not needed. That being said consolidation is among us and standing your ground is the best way to shrink into oblivion.

I somewhat agree. Airlines like expressjet, ASA, Skywest, and air Wisconsin have too many 50 seaters to dictate their own terms. No clue about eagle and what's going on there.

So your "argument" is they are just giving out $5000.00 bonuses because management is nice? They don't really need pilots at all, and the bonus money being used to fill the seats is just a giveaway since they don't really want or need any new first officers in the first place?
What are they staffing for since they don't need to hire anyone with all the 50 seat jets that are leaving??
I guess they just want to add new pilots to the payroll to increase their cost...

You do realize that SkyWest has a total of 600 new aircraft on firm order or option, right?

Sure. All firm right? Whos scope is gonna allow 600 big RJ'S? granted some will obviously replace aging CR7's. Sky west is prime to shrink. Along with any large 50 seat airline.

Skywest 700's will not be replaced for years. They have not even reached the 20,000 hour mark yet. They have a firm order of 200 175's and 100 MRJ's.
