There will NEVER, EVER be a shortage of qualified applicants for the legacy carriers...Anyone tell you differently is full of horse dung...More than a few military pilots will be hitting the streets in the next few years, and despite the rumors to the contrary. Military aviators are preferred by the legacy carriers...

Airlines are either going to raise pay or incentives. I'm guessing not pay. In the past it was just easy to lower the standards but now it's a more level playing field. Who's minimums aren't just an ATP?

Not the argument being made here but sure. The issue is there are 16 regionals fighting for qualified pilots and there seem to be more lateral moves by regional FO's than new pilots to the industry. Attrition is high and will likely become higher. The amount of new qualified, willing pilots is low.

It's that simple but it's not that simple. No one can do it alone and it's illegal to organize a group. You figure out how to do it legally and you can have my 1.95%.

The flow with Skywest I heard is going to not just be with UAL but talks are in the works for DAL/AA/Alaska/and yes even Southwest. Some have said these flows are being worked on for all of INC, some just say Skywest airlines. It seems that this is a "next gen" for flow ups to the major airlines. Who knows of this is true or not

What's wrong with a pilot group finally saying "NO" to concessionary contracts? It really is that simple. Didn't the AE pilots just do that very thing? All it takes is an MEC with balls to stand up. Of course it also takes a national union to coordinate all the MECs. There is nothing at all illegal about that.

CLAMP and Johnson, if flow thru is so great why did ALPA and Management only offer the Pinnacle pilots "expedited interview" (whatever that means)? Fear of too many "undesirables" on your list I presume. That speaks volumes toward the argument that flows don't work, don't you think?
(And Bucking Bar, before you chime in, YES, I realize this was given without the consent of DALPA).

There are (were) many military pilots who separate / retire who have absolutely no desire to fly for the airlines. When I retired I moved to a job that paid me three times what the military did and I was home every night.
