Currently, as I understand it, financial aid is only available for the academic portion of flight training, not the flying lessons. The GI bill pays for it all.

They had 5 years when mandatory retirement went from 60 to 65. Not one airline lifted a finger.

Banks aren't stupid, they see the risk in flight training an individual is to great.

No age limit is a temporary stopgap.

The other big factor is the continually rising cost of flight training, combined with the continually lowering median family income, along with the banks refusal to lend for pilot training costs.
