I think a large percentage at every regional has its share of lifers and unhireables.

Whew. Thanks for clearing that up.

Hey when your working a salary job and you stay late one night, you might not get paid more.

The RLA is holding back them talking to each other? I think not.
The only thing holding them back is lack of national leadership.

Lets say we went to a National Union.

The first time said National Pilot Union tells a pilot group what they can and can't do then all hell would break loose.

Then we'd be right back where we started, with much less cohesion and unity that we have currently, that is, if we have any at all.

A letter from ALPA advised the American Eagle MEC to "not Comair" Eagle. That is a direct quote. To me, that is ALPA getting directly involved in MEC negotiations at the regional level.

All the while giving advice to PDT and PSA. I don't hate ALPA, but it is complicit in perpetuating the misery of its membership at regional carriers.

There's a very big difference between National having the power to tell an MEC what to do, vs writing a letter.

The day Republic went into bankruptcy, due to lack of pilots, Skywest increased FO pay by $22/hour. Many regionals now compensate new hires over $40k/year.
