they aren't ONE union and the must represent THEIR pilots interests only and put them ahead of the other carriers.. That is how it works and it's dysfunctional as hell, but it is what we're straddled with under the RLA. There is no national pilots' union, we can't strike the way other unions in non-transporation fields can, and we have no muscle in DC like the larger and more traditional unions.
The first time said National Pilot Union tells a pilot group what they can and can't do then all hell would break loose.
Then we'd be right back where we started, with much less cohesion and unity that we have currently, that is, if we have any at all.

All the while giving advice to PDT and PSA. I don't hate ALPA, but it is complicit in perpetuating the misery of its membership at regional carriers.

There's a very big difference between National having the power to tell an MEC what to do, vs writing a letter.
