That means your fast upgrade captains are already on property.

This. It doesn't matter how many planes have been delivered, it matters how many guys are on the list.
We have 820 pilots on the list.

APC is not correct.

Okay, so unless you're bad at math, that point is irrelevant. There are still two times the amount FOs on property than are needed to upgrade into additional equipment. I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt that it could even go 100 more into the list based of FOs that don't want to upgrade due to any number of excuses and those upgrades for attrition. That still leaves 100 FOs on property now that will not upgrade when the last 175 shows up.

Additional equipment is nice, but there will be attrition too. It won't stay at 1.5 years indefinitely, but I think we'll still see upgrades in 2-3 years barring an economic downturn.

And of course a steady supply of pilots which will decrease as time goes on...

I'm curious as to how much the new required ATP training will affect pilot supply. Smart pilots who took their writtens this month should stave off shortage, but for how long...?

From what I can tell, it won't be too difficult for 121 carriers to add the new requirements to their existing training programs.

I'd just like to say congrats to my friends at Mesa who took the recall and are or have already upgraded... A lot of people ask me if I regret not taking the recall and my answer is HELL no I don't. I was on a fast track to upgrade there when Delta decided to kick Mesa to the curb and United cut way back... Boom, from fast track to furlough. Bottom line is I don't trust this company or crooked management and I'll take my chances working someplace I enjoy just in case that major never calls.

Yeah, because Majors will be knocking down the doors of guys who up upgraded 15 minutes ago when there's a metric s-ton of guys chomping at the bit with 7,000 hours PIC.

Consider that AirTran, Frontier, Allegiant, JetBlue, Spirit, and Virgin America need to hire too.

If the guy who upgraded 15 minutes ago is better connected and matches all the other criteria the major looks at more closely than the 7000 PIC guy, then absolutely he will get a call first.
