It never ceases to amaze me that people subscribe to the "no TPIC time, no legacy seat" mentality when there are a great number of retired and nearing retirement legacy captains hired in the 70s that didn't even have multi time when being selected for a 121 cockpit. It can, and has, been done. Just because you're in the right seat doesn't mean you're staring out the window completely disengaged.

Quote: Erdude32, using your logic, how do you upgrade a regional FO to regional captain....After all they haven't ever been 121 PIC, so it must be dangerous to have them flying as captain in a 90 seat airplane with "Delta/United/American" painted on the side. What say you to that?
because just in delta(s) pilots are gods gift to aviation except when they run airplanes off the runway mmmmmmmmm I guess they are human!!!!!!! and the same skill level as regional guys hahahahaha explain this one..... I thought delta(s) pilots were the best!!! what a joke!!!! laughing stock of the industry and guard!!!

I forgot that 737s were immune to black ice. You do realize that's a bunch of regional pilots yelling at each other on guard calling each other Delta, right?

Back on subject, Delta values TPIC in their hiring process, whether it be military or civilian (erdude is way off reservation in his logic). They want people who have made command decisions in the past and are comfortable leaders, however a small handful of FOs have been hired this round.

you honestly sound like one of the most laid back level headed guys to fly with. I hope your at mainline and we fly some day together! ( I know 737 are not immune to ice just making a point everyone is human and can make mistakes! It doesn't matter if at mainline or a regional!)

Quote: I've been an RJ FO for 7 years and I want my mainline job NOW and I'm going to kick and scream if I don't get it....Freakin grow up, grow a set and wait your turn like your Captains have....
I'm an 8 year FO at Endeavor. I use to be CA here, however due to displacement here, I was downgraded. Does that mean I can't go to mainline because I'm not a current CA? wait for my turns like my CA? There are CA's here that are junior to me, because of the quota. So where does that put me, how long should I wait for? You might also didn't know there are lots of FO at Endeavor that use to be Captains at one point and many more downgrades to come.

I think this theory is flawed and pour manners, having been a check airmen at a previous place I got the chance to do OE with New FO's and Captains upgrading for the first time and also captains upgrading to new equipment who already had been captains for years.

In plenty of cases I flew with FO's I trust way way way way way more than certain captains. Even in cases where the captain had to go back to training ... Just cause your number allowed you to be a captain doesn't make you the perfect captain.

I would say it's more safe to assume a guy with left seat time is more experience and a better round pilot , but having flown in both seats with all types of guys I don't pass judgement off of any FO... There are plenty out there whom I would trust with my family more than the guy in the left seat who was lucky enough to make it to the seat just cause of perfect timing ...

Just cause a guy got PIC on his resume does not give him a red cape and blue suite ...

Let's not kid our selves guys...

Let the D bag comments continue
