If you choose to hold, its up to you. Certainly depending on fuel. But then you have to calculate your bingo fuel. You can also certainly hold til you have a fuel emergency and then exercise emergency authority and shoot a CATII without autopilot. You can get away with anything til you red screen the sim. In real world situation when there is no tell how long I may be holding, I would divert and wait on the ground and can refuel if i need to than holding without autopilot and chance that something else might break.
Understood, I'm just mentioning that because if the visibility is low then the temp comes into play regarding anti ice.Originally Posted by lgaflyer
It doesn't matter what temp is, if you don't see centerline light, you cannot t/o 555, that's per opspec. If you choose to hold, its up to you. Certainly depending on fuel. Well, if in doubt in the simulator use the temp on the PFD or what they call it on the ATIS. The temp displayed on the ground in the real airplane can be affected by things like direct sunshine and then you need to go with the ATIS. Originally Posted by gojo

In the sim they will tell you the temp and that should be what's displayed on the PFD. If the temp and visibility call for anti-ice then that's what you should use. If they say it's 4şC and the visibility is 1/2 mile well, then you'll need your anti-ice for taxi and takeoff.
And if the paperwork field report says that there's snow on the runway or taxiways then anti-ice must be used accordingly.
It's attention to detail and application of limitations. I don't say that to be condescending but it's all part of how this job and training can have some pitfalls. Just pay attention to details like visibility and temp. Too often we are concentrated on other things in the sim and forget about these details.
Since there are no new rumors floating around and it is 2015, I guess all there is left to do is argue over the training department flaws and interpretations of hard limitations from the FCM.

Well, discussing practical application of limitations is better than ****ing and moaning about other petty stuff. Maybe we can learn something.Originally Posted by el jefe

What's the game plan for AWAC at the end of the year? New contract or closing the doors?
(Sure doing a lot of hiring)

Game plan is to continue flying, I've heard a "rumor" that they are close to signing another 10 yr deal with AA but that was whispered in a jet bridge by a lca in the know, so take it with a grain of salt. Quantity of planes flown wasn't discussed but I'm hoping no less than 71.Originally Posted by Boss Hoggin
