AWAC Exercises Option - Extends Thru Feb 2018

Way to try and rain on their parade dude. Maybe while bringing up the negatives maybe you'd also like to mention how summer block hours are their highest ever.

I am not, and I was the first person to congratulate them. But, then I read on other forums that only half of the story is being shared. What is the FULL truth?
That is like telling everyone that I won the lottery, which is true..sort of. I won $1 on my last powerball ticket. What did the rest of the email say and what did it mean?
IF it is a 3 year extension that is also accompanied by concessions and parked airplanes, that sucks.

E-mail sent out by our CEO Christine Deister just a few minutes ago.
To most at AWAC this shouldn't be a huge surprise. Glad they announced this sooner than later. This should help attract some people again (well what people are left anyways).
Between now and Feb 2018 it is going to be a fun ride. Every year more and more move on with barely anyone entering this profession. I suspect this model will look vastly different in just a few short years.
Who knows what happens after 2018, but for all the haters wanting to have seen us go already - sorry.

It's really not rainbows and unicorns. Frankly I'm not excited at all about it. They're probably removing a few airplanes from service...didn't say how many. Plus it's not three years, it's 2.5 years. 33 months to be exact.

I'll say this. There is zero excuse for any CA here to not move on within the next 33 months. Absolutely none. I don't get it. I fly with a number of guys in their late 30's/early 40s - ie not old at all - that are so content and aren't actively applying and trying to get out. It blows my mind. This model was never designed as a career. I get AWAC used to have incredible pay back in the day, but lets go! Get in and get out.
Even senior FO's dont have much of a an excuse to not get on with an LCC - JB/Spirit etc if not a legacy (assuming we are definitely done in 2018). Network, make yourself standout and be active.
Who knows what will happen between now and the next 33 months, but at least we still have jobs in the meantime while trying to move on and not starting over for far less pay.

Absolutely great news for those there now, who are middle of the road seniority wise. Since no concessions are even being thought about, they can ride the "good times" while they work to GTFO.
Great for the junior CA's because they can get their ducks in a row before jumping ship (I'm talking to you, the "I can't afford the pay cut crowd).
Great for the senior to mid-level F/O's who will upgrade soon and start making some decent money, and be more competitive at the higher level carriers.
However, it's a little scary for the new hires, those extremely low on the seniority list, and those who didn't plan to ever go any where. But to be frank, they all know the gamble they are taking.
