AWAC Exercises Option - Extends Thru Feb 2018

I'm sure there are airlines besides AA that would play up. I actually think this buys AWAC time to utilize the potential worsening shortage and pick up flying that others can't staff. I'm not sure the demand is there yet (especially for the whole fleet), but the next summer or two will be very telling. Just my .02

Next on the agenda...company will propose further concessions to get "costs in line" to compete for additional flying. The last man standing is the last to win new business. the choice will be...
1. Bend over and spread like the rest
2. Stand tall and let the owners pack their bags and leave letting it shrink or even die on the vine.

I'm sure big money players have it down to a science. They know unemployed pilots need to stay current and will fly wherever they can if they had to. Comair guys are all over everyone's seniority lists. Some are flying routes they used to fly at Comair but for less money and a different badge.
It seems like we have two options...give them what they want and keep it going while making less money and paying more for benefits or fight for an even better contract and start looking for a new job come 2018.

That's about as likely as PSA becoming the most respected pilot group in the industry!

I am not interested in taking any concessions. That's why I will be finding a new job within the next two years, or I will have no choice but to leave the industry. We had a real chance at changing things about a year or so ago, but PSA started a domino effect from which there is no recovery. When someone else will always do your job for a cheaper price, they will always be the ones who will be chosen to do so. Long gone are the days when quality actually matters. Management simply doesn't care any more.

Unfortunately because that's exactly what the two options are.

This is the Regional model. Accept it, get in and get out as soon as possible.
