Is flow really a big deal?

We don't get paid by the number of airframes. We get paid for flight hours and pay & credit hours.
The increase, or decrease, of pay hours is more important.
And 30 a/c is a 3% reduction. That reduction can easily be overcome if the existing, and new a/c, are flown 3.15% more.

on their end, factoring in 160 seats replacing 136 seats factors in as well.
(dumbing it down for the slower among us)

Skyvector is 100% spot on. PIC time has no longer the same effect as it had few years back. You'll be competing even harder with all the other thousands of Captains with more hrs than you at the other regionals/LCC's/Military/Corporate/Cargo airlines. Flow means less street hires which makes it even harder to fight for those few spots available. Flow IS the way to the Majors. Be ahead of the curve.

so far this year, AA has hired 32 off the street, and 73 from Envoy.

Yeah until it goes away, which I hope doesn't happen for the sake of everyone there. But there is no bulletproof plan to get to the majors. There is no flow, no quick upgrade, or anything else that is immune to getting mothballed in this industry. Now obviously I hope these things don't happen, but I've seen it happen from the sidelines in the past.
AA could not be around in 10 years. Highly unlikely, but anything is possible and I wouldn't throw all of my eggs in one basket and count on this as my golden ticket to the majors. Parker isn't an idiot and there are ways around everything.

Can someone from Envoy and PDT post their respective LOA stating the AA flow commitment? Does the LOA specifically address hiring outside of seniority number? Must the contractual commitment(50% of class or 3/month) be complete before hiring Joe Blow that is not in seniority order?
Thanks
Thanks
If you have any PDT questions feel free to msg me.

If you accept a job that has flow, you cannot work at the parent airline outside of the flow. Ie you limit your choice of legacy carrier from 3 to 2. Mainline doesn't want to destroy their own feed so the flow keeps you inline. If/when it works it can be great. But when things slow down it can be awful. Some airlines had back flow! Large carriers like Republic without flow will be the first to fail as large airlines canibelize their pilots.
