XJT Guaranteed Interview at United?!
#11
Why wouldn't it be good for the new hires? The American flow with the WO's it's works out great. Top senior people leave, and the junior people upgrade faster, get more money and have a better QOL due to moving up in the seniority. Win Win!!!

Only if you can hire to replace what's leaving.

This is a retention scheme to keep FOs and CAs from leaving to other majors. XJT had about 650 leave last year and as of Feb 1st, 94!!! they are hoping pilots won't leave until they get a united shot. Expect 1000 pilots at United= 250 pilot interviews (and probably hired). that sure beats 650+ moving on to spirit, allegiant, atlas, etc

Throwing money at the problem works, I'm a huge fan of the flow but unfortunately I can't afford a 65k paycut to take it right now without losing my home and car. I'm pretty sure there are many out there that feel the same way, until the pay or bonuses get better they'll have problems staffing the WOs and flow through airlines.
I'm sure the bean counters have figured out exactly what pay is required to attract the staffing they need if they really wanted to.

There only seems to be a couple of options left. One is for the Majors to allow a few contract carriers to go out of business and hope there pilots flood to their feed carriers. Another way is for the majors to purchase a few carriers to protect their feed.
In the end it will mean hopefully less regional flying and that might be good for everyone. You might in the future see all flying done by WO'ed carriers and pilots with seniority numbers flying for their respective mainline carrier.

Received the news yesterday. Guaranteed interview, not a flow, with United that is seniority based for the ERJ United operation. Sounds like the same deal that Commutair has. Details to follow this upcoming week.
It's been a good week for the Acey crowd. No more jepps, contract extension passed, and United Pathway Program. Finally some good news.
