a "longjet CA" at Express gets paid for the 145, regardless if hes actually flying the 135/145. There is no excuse for a company to pay pilots 50 seat wages, or in some cases less than 50 seat wages, for 70 set airplanes. My point is, is that XJT is making money paying their pilots what they pay them, so how can SKYWEST justify paying their 70 seat pilots less than that. In proportion 70 seaters should be getting paid 20% more than the industry standard for 50 seaters, and they are not, they are getting paid below 50 seat rates in some cases!
Crj200/700/900 are all the same airplane. They pay us the same rate to reduce costs and get more flying and i'm Aok with that. Why do you have such a problem with it? Worry about your own company and let me worry about mine.

I've got my resume in with both Skywest and EXJ. While some say 70seats for 50seat pay skywest is still one of the good guys on the regional level. They might not have ALPA, and several people there might want it, but they seem to be getting screwed less than those that are alpa. The true goal of ALPA is to keep pay and QOL up. Skywest and EXJ both are doing this compared to the others. Whether skywest is part of the union doesn't matter if they are exceeding it's abilities. Look at Mesa.

As I've said REPEATEDLY, the theory of a powerful nation union has some potential, but the track record (ESPECIALLY at the regional level) is abysmal. After they fix mesa then they can come talk to me.
There's a reason that SWA and AA don't do alpa. Are they "scabs" too?

Most of these youngsters havn't been at any other airline and are brainwashed to think alpa is a godsend. But us real-deal pilots who have seen first-hand what damage alpa and its merry band of thugs can do know better.

Skywest will have to pay more when all the ALPA pilots stop applying and filling out classes. I was one of them. I agree with Rickair, fix the problems in the regionals with Mesa, Pinnacle, and ALPA majors contracting with GoJets then come and talk. As the payscale above shows, Skywest is still one of the top regionals out there. People are willing to make a lateral move from every regional out there to come over here, that says something. We all need more pay and Skywest is definatly one of them.
In response to Pinnacle flying in SLC, that's a great idea having 250 hour FO's and 1800 hour CA flying in mountainous terrain... brilliant!!! They can't staff their airline as it is with qualified applicants.

This is the most ridiculous post I have ever read, a 70 seat airplanes creates more of a profit than a 50 seat airplane, therefore you should be getting paid more money, why do you think pilots that fly larger airplanes make more money?????????????? harder systems, more memory items? Its because more responsibility/ creates more money for the company, I cant believe you, your are so naive.

Its the same typerating. cal pays their pilots the same for all 737 models. Delta pays their pilots the same for the 757/767-200-300 and now 400

If ALPA could they'd bring other regionals up to Skywests standards. IMHO. Profit sharing ect are nice things. I'm not dissing unions by any means. I think they are very important. But if you guys are going to attack start at the bottom and work your way up. Gojets, Colgan, Messa and up and up and up!

UPS is the only one I can think of right now that pays the same for all aircraft. FedEx has wide and narrow body pay. The difference between those guys and Skywest is that their pay is high enough to allow for this. While Skywest is paying 70 and 90 seat less than others are making for 50 seat rates and less than most are for the 70 and 90 seat rates.
