To any new FO reading this. Get in the f’ing cockpit and do your job. Let the FA’s welcome passengers aboard, that’s their job. If I have to tell an FO to get in the cockpit one more time because I’m waiting on him to do a release brief or anything else I’m gonna lose it.
This a real thing?! WTF #CheckFO

Flying with brand new FOs fresh off of OE in LGA has been a real treat lately...

If this is something you’re seeing a lot of, then I would bet there are CKA’s telling them to do that. We (new FO’s) get a lot of mixed messages based on many varying opinions of what we should be doing at any given time.

Your job. If a captain is waiting for you or has to tell you (or any FO) to get back in the cockpit so they can give a release or departure briefing you are 100% doing something wrong.

Your job isn’t to stand in the galley and welcome passengers aboard. At any given time if you’re not doing the walk around you can’t go wrong with sitting in your seat. I highly, HIGHLY doubt check airmen are telling new FOs to stand in the galley.

What you should be doing is what’s in your FOM/SOP and not going off of opinions. The CKA aren’t exactly “standardized,” but your manuals hold the “standard.” If your manuals don’t say to do something, don’t do it.

It’s not only new FOs though, there’s a lot of captains trying to go “the extra mile” and dragging/pushing their FO along with them as if a Delta recruiter is watching over their shoulder. Morons.

Can anyone recommend a base that is least semi junior on both the FO and CA side for a new hire to move to other than LGA or EWR? I’m one of those pilots who hasn’t won the lottery yet and can’t afford $2,000/mo in rent lol.

Thanks, are new FO’s still flying a lot after IOE? At least breaking min guarantee?

Currently, new PIT FO's are spending little or no time on reserve after IOE.
