Gents,
Please forgive my ignorance.
I have a friend who is interviewing next week, assuming he would get a job offer:
1. What do you think he will be offered for the company/aircraft/base?
2. He lives in NYC right now - is there a magic strategy to get based right away in LGA or EWR?
3. If you are offered a class for a base you don't want - is it possible to turn them down, wait for next class and keep the offer of employment?
4. Almost everyone here seems to dislike the Q. Why? If he is from NYC and gets Q-400 in EWR - could it really be that bad?

2. They randomly give you an assignment based on need, so there is not a way to really get it. They may offer a couple classes on the phone, and you can ask them, but most likely not. The current Shuttle class is tiny, and the CHQ side isn't hiring much. There is a small class going through now. He could always get LGA with CHQ.
3. From my understanding, you can turn down a total of 3 offers. After that, they'll remove you from the list.
4. He will not get the Q if he's hired in the next couple of months. The 170 side is growing way too fast, and the Q is "properly staffed." By that, they have way too many captains upgraded in it, and they're pairing captain with captain to get the routes done for now. Most people don't want the Q simply because of maintenance (and, therefore, cancellation).

I hear lots of "we can't recruit" stories, but it doesn't seem that way at RAH. Are interviews still chock full of hopefuls?

That has got to be expensive! I can't imagine they could staff the Q any other way---at least based on what people are saying on the forums about refusing the Q.
I hear lots of "we can't recruit" stories, but it doesn't seem that way at RAH. Are interviews still chock full of hopefuls?

the q is going away soon, thats why no q. they arent even close to being staffed on the q or the 170. when the displace all the q guys back into the 170 be ready for reserve in CMH PIT and maybe ORD.
