If you go to FSI in STL for your Q-400 training AVOID if you possibly can an instructor with the initials T.S. Hopefully, you will get either G.K. or G.D. as your instructors...Both are outstanding, and G.K. has over 3000 hours in the Q and was also a Captain on the airplane...The program is a mess for sure, but those two guys have a 100% pass rate, the same cannot be said for T.S. and this individual hasn't flown anything in the left-seat bigger than a Seminole.

Word on the street here is that UA has put their foot down. They've given the higher ups a number of how many flight cancelations they will tolerate in the next 90 days. If we don't comply. Bye bye Q flying! Could be full on rumor but I'd believe it. I've have been reassigned several times to cover Q flying recently in the 170. It would not surprise me in the slightest if we lose it.

While I have no first hand experience with the Q program, those of my friends that have upgraded have literally scared me enough to remove my CA bid for it. To me, there is NO reason to rush into an upgrade on a machine that is not staffed on the FO side so CA's are flying right seat all the time. No reason to commute from the West Coast to PIT or EWR to get cancelled more than you fly. No reason to fly an airplane that is a ticking time bomb waiting to violate you if you are not 100% on your game.
My hat goes off to the guys and gals out there slaving away on that thing. I know you all will have some incredible stories to tell when that major interview comes your way.

I don't know how credible "word on the street" is when it came from a "friend of a friends cousin dropping off a package at HQ" overhearing something as critical as UA putting the hammer down on RAH. Would it shock me if true? No. Do I think its pure speculation from someone who thinks they know what they are talking about to ruffle feathers? Yes.
