SDF & CMH are the junior bases on the 145 right now. So SDF is pretty easy to get out of training. It's pretty senior on the CA side. So upgrading into it could be slow.
They are still running 145 classes regularly to cover upgrades and new flying for previously parked planes.

The recruiters said that for most bases that one wants, if they don't get it initially they should be able to get it within months. Also, they said it was a junior manned base.
It's a E170 base; so he would need to be assigned that aircraft.

As you may or may not know, airlines rank order their pilots based on a seniority basis. If it is a company that has 500 pilots, they would be ranked 1-500 based on when they joined the company. If you have 20 pilots in the newest training class, they would internally to the class be rank ordered by age. Upon graduation, they would now be 501-520. Each company has several bases that the various crews base out of (where you have to report to work). As you can imagine, each base is going to have a pool of pilots from somewhere in that seniority ranking. A junior base means that the base is manned by relatively junior number seniority list pilots. If a new pilot fresh out of training, goes to a junior manned base, it is likely that they would have a shorter reserve time duty and would be able to start being awarded a schedule sooner. If a newly trained pilot goes to a senior base, there is a propensity that pilot would maintain a reserve duty for a longer period.
Generally speaking, Greensboro is not very easy for a pilot from average city USA to commute to. It would most likely require 2 flights to commute from their house to work. Most people want to limit their commute to 1 flight. Therefore, the more senior pilots are going to want to base at a larger location that has more flight options.
I hope that helps with the decision making to be done.
