Because from what I saw none of the other Regionals had 175s based there and I was wondering if there was a reason for that. Is it a secret or something to know that?

We only have 170s and 175s. Skywest has a big 175 base in ORD.

Honestly, that's all you'll need (the study guide they sent you). You'll get everything else you need when you start.

During indoc they will tell you what's required to know, and the test at the end is open book. You don't need to study for indoc, so during indoc spend a couple hours each night using the company eLearn site to go through all the online tutorials on the airplane systems.

During systems, a combination of the study guide they gave you and the online training tutorials that you will go through again over the three weeks of systems will get you comfortably through the oral. KNOW the required limitations and memory items. There's not a lot and it won't be hard.

During systems, get with your sim partner and start practicing flows and call outs. The more you have these memorized the better sims will be.

Do not use the outdated materials you have to study from. A lot has changed, especially recently with the certificate merger.

Good luck.

I have an awesome guide someone sent to me back in 2008 for the E170/5 (when I was hired then) but it's dated 2004 and not sure what changes have been made on the aircraft. I got the guide HR sent but doesn't seem to really stand out like the old one I have. It covered memory items, operating limitations, systems review, and normal procedures. It also highlighted oral questions vs. daily ops. Thanks!

Thanks, reading the Skywest thread it seems like they were only at DFW. Republic's recruitment page seems like they have the highest pay out of any Regional so was considering applying there. But not commuting and being based at ORD is very important to me when picking where to apply. It just seems a waste to live near one of the biggest airports in the world and have to commute to another airport.

There's really no appreciable differences between a 170 and 175. They are the same airplane with minor detail changes. A 175 is just a 170-200 anyway.

Ok, go to Skywest. They are good people.

That's what I am leaning towards. Seems like it is pretty easy to get ORD there.

If you want ORD quickly you'll want to go to skywest. But I know nothing about them; are you able to get the ejet right away? Also wasn't there some sort of freeze on the ejet there? That only matters if you specifically want that aircraft, which people will tell you shouldn't be a deciding factor.

A 170-200 that can't go above FL340 with gas and people

Not familiar with the performance of the MD-88 are you? This isn't as uncommon as you might think.
