An eyewitness said the landing appeared so smooth that he thought it was some sort of intentional test, not an emergency

You know, they're showing video of these passengers walking around, and the emergency responders are herding them into vans and busses. Get the life vests off these people! They're walking around, looking like they are suffocating from the vests around their necks.

They do ingestion tests on smaller birds, like chickens...thawed out.

The frozen chickens were to test the "bird splitter" in between the windscreens on 20 series lears. I'm sure its on you tube somewhere.

PHENOMENAL JOB. Those guys just earned their career's pay in two minutes. If we had to break the dry spell, this is the way to do it.

I live on at 66th and Riverside in Manhattan. Did not see it go in but saw it floating just after it happened. My apt looks over the Hudson on the 8th floor so it would have been at my height when it went by. I did not hear anything.
Nice job on the ditching. Plane stayed intact. Water temp upper 30's air temp teens so not much time in the water before hypothermia sets in.

Flew P3's so practiced ditching a lot. FedEx pilot now.
