Quote: First, and I'd love to be wrong, but you're very naive if you think that fuel is going to stay this cheap. Once this summer rolls around we'll be getting raped at the pumps again. Those big time oil execs are going to get thirsty sooner or later.

Secondly, why commute across the country to a regional when there is one in your own backyard? I would rather not live in a place like Chicago, with it's sky high homicide rates and the fact that normal law abiding citizens cannot carry a concealed weapon. Y'all can keep it. I have zero desire to live north of the Mason-Dixon line or east of the Mississippi.

Why should one dump some serious coin to move across the country for a regional job when one can stay close to home? Think about it. That is what brings a lot of people to Mesa.

Clearly you don't fully understand why gas prices are as low as they are. Do some light reading on the geopolitics behind oil imports and then get back to me.

I'm just plainly pointing out, if you had less Mesa cheerleaders, you might have leverage to sign a decent contract.

If we had less regional airline cheerleaders ****ty contracts and work rules wouldn't exist period. Can't believe a TSA cheerleader is in here complaining about Mesa cheerleaders.
Quote: Skywest, Compass, TSA, Horizon all have bases west of the Mississippi, and didn't Mesa JUST JUST JUST close their ORD base? So you bash companies with an ORD base while sitting at a company with an ORD base?
When I was determining where to apply TSA didn't yet have a Denver base, and the other bases are in places that aren't very desirable to me. The reason I chose Mesa is because at the time it was, and still is to my knowledge, the only regional with domiciles on both coasts. My wife's job could take us anywhere in the country at this point and I want to have decent options for commuting.
Quote: No, the real mystery is that pilots are needed at the regional level yet people insist on working for a company with a bottom of the barrel contract.
Maybe because we don't plan on being "lifers" like most people. Got a 4 year degree, get you're time in, and get out. The people that most often ***** about the contracts and the money are the ones who plan on being there for 10+ years because they know they can't go anywhere else.
Quote: It's an attitude like this that kills pilots. People like you would work free for a decade, putting someone on the street for a 1 in 100 chance to fly a superjumbo.
There's a huge difference between accepting a low payrate at your first regional job to shoot for a quick upgrade, versus accepting a low payrate to fly a superjumbo at an airline you plan on spending your entire career at.

I know you Skywest wannabes are really proud of your FO salary, but you're doing it wrong: your first regional should be chosen based on the fastest upgrade possible--pay & contract & basing should all be secondary concerns (if you can afford it).

No one is saying they're going to work for free for a 1 in 100 chance to fly a superjumbo. No one at Mesa is "putting someone on the street"--name one effing regional that is putting pilots on the street because of ScottyDo and other pilots' decisions to come here versus Skywest, Envoy, etc..

Furthermore, no one who came here for the quick upgrade is going to "work here for a decade" on our low payscale as an FO--if the quick upgrade doesn't materialize, FOs will simply quit or make lateral transfers--if you want evidence look at how Endeavor is losing FOs to Spirit & other regionals en masse.

FaceBiter, we all know that what you're really saying in this and every one of your posts is: 1) You're jealous because you washed out of our training program and could be sitting left seat by now, and 2) You're upset that other people who rolled the dice on Mesa will be at a legacy before you even make left seat at your current airline

Guess the "4 year degree" didn't educate you on the difference between your and "you're"?
Quote: The upgrade TSA is less than 2 years. And we get paid WAY better. And we have growth. And we get leg by leg (not line guarantee) cancelation pay. And we have more than a completely ineffective Union.
Awesome bro!!!!!!!

Now why don't you go spend your time is the TSA forums???

You guys look like F-ing losers spending all this time in OUR forum, spreading hate!!!

J*sus F*cking Chr*st!!!

The difference? We have a current and solid contract. How long since yours was amendable? If any of you had a clue, you'd be trying to keep people away until management felt the pressure and gave in to contract gains. You better believe if management black balls us when we start negotiations, I will be telling people to go elsewhere.

Uh, I try to keep people away from the regionals in general, because there is not one that pays FO's what they should, and because of what AAG did over there with Envoy, PSA, and Piedmont. Regional airline A has a better contract than airline B, but doesn't pay for hotels in training, and airline C has the highest first year pay but lowest second year...blah, blah , blah, blah...they all fall short, and are just clever ways for management to get cheap labor.

Hey TSA guy, you and your rhetoric mean about as much as a banana flavored "piece of candy." There is no substance, a crappy artificial taste and some added calories. Why bother with it? That would be a downward and risky move for a Mesa guy in terms of basing,"current" equipment types and longevity accrual/upgrade. Again, why bother?
