What is the possibility of getting based in Puerto Rico as a new hire?

Puerto Rico (SJU) is going down to only 3 positions for the summer. It won't start growing again until late September/early October. It should be possible to hold it as a newhire at that time as we have a couple of really junior guys that are based there right now. The schedules, however, tend to be 5 on 2 off for the real junior SJU pilots so that might be something to consider.

Define "getting based?" It will likely take years before you are truly based anywhere. Plan on moving often (at least twice a year) to "chase the sun" which really means "chase the tourists." You will either love it or hare it. It can be tons of fun if your the nomadic type.

STL region. One intern at IRK, 2 at UIN, and probably another at CGI.

Wow, we must be really hurting for FO's if they're sending that many interns out to STL.

So whats the deal are they hiring for FO's anymore or not? I can see both sides of the spectrum as to why they would and wouldn't.
