JoeyC,

What about Mayaguez? What's the schedule like for the pilots based there?

If I remember correctly, the Ponce and MAZ guys are lifers - you need someone to die before you get in there.

And they're young.

The schedules, however, tend to be 5 on 2 off for the real junior SJU pilots so that might be something to consider.
Of the 5 on, are most of those nights spent away from SJU? What are the legs like?

No overnights unless your plane breaks...unless something has changed (which I doubt).

April 4 class is all captains, 7 of 'em.

The way things are going, we are either going to need to drop the FOs from the MidWest or hire a bunch more. I think we are almost at the point where we have more interns and TDY pilots (some flying as FOs) than regular pilots.

Eight actually in the 4-4 class, at least one is an F/O. Calls went out today for the 5-2 class which has F/O's as well.

The SJU based flying could be anything... In the winter its often relief for the outstation pilots - ie the Tortola pilot flys his first leg in, you pick it up and do a round trip while he rests, then you hop into the St Croix plane and do a turn while that pilot gets her break....

All the flying will be out and backs, usually with minimal ground time at the outstation. Sometimes, not very often, a middle turn will cancel and you sit in the outstation for a couple hours.

I always enjoyed getting "stuck" in St. Thomas for 3-4 hours. Pack a pair of swim shorts in your little day bag, and go to the beach.

Crap, now I miss Cape Air. I'm getting verklempt!
