Top Gun did have its faults but it was a pretty good movie. For some reason the Navy draws some pretty good movies: An Officer and a Gentleman, No Way Out, The Hunt for red October, The Caine Mutiny etc. OK, Ok I admit we did have "Navy Seals" with Charlie Sheen, but they can't all be good.
The Air Force had tons of good movies, but most seem to be pre-1947 (Army Air Corps) but its been a lean few decades for the AF. The whole "Iron Eagle" franchise kind of killed the genre.
My favorite part of Broken Arrow was were they beat the crap out of each other while boxing a few hours prior to a mission. I guess a technical advisor was deemed unnecessary.
