Quote: That being said, if you get a seat in the cabin on an AA / Eagle flight there is no need to check-in with the captain because you are using your employee benefits and are no different than Jane in accounts payable who is going to El Paso to visit her slam piece for the weekend.

If you get a seat in the cabin on ANY OTHER AIRLINE (unless using a ZED), then you need to check-in with the captain.
I always check in, regardless of whether it is required. I even try to check in when I’m deadheading. It just seems courteous. I also take a moment to introduce myself to the FAs. My courtesy always appears appreciated, and CAs often tell me to let them know if I can’t find a spot for my bag, et cetera.

I always find it odd though when D2s/A1D,etc. check in up front despite having a seat assignment, but to each their own. I was just clarifying to the OP that it isn’t required given the conditions I mentioned.

What does it mean when “Limo” is put into your schedule before or after a deadhead?

What is the benefit, exactly, if any? Will the company pay for ground transportation, or something?

Yes, they typically get a black car for you, however I had an SUV pick me up on more than one occasion. It just depends what contract they've signed for the area. I'm really surprised this hasn't been covered in either indoc or IOE. Call crew scheduling to get the finer details.

I’ve had a sweaty Serbian in a clapped out Chevy Caprice pick me up to go to JFK in the past. Many thoughts ran through my head such as “is my next move going to be to read a goodbye letter or ransom note on Al Jazeera?”

If there is any benefit then I've been missing out, as far as I know its just used by CS to define sits after messing with your schedule..

Also MobileCCI was not discussed at all besides using it to schedule your A1/A3 travel when I went through initial ground school. Bugging my mentor about it usually got all the info I needed though.

I don't fully expect everyone to do this, but I do it as well, as a good practice. It's a great courtesy, and it gives the crew a heads up that you're there, in case of some kind of abnormality or emergency.

Well I learned something new today. I was trying to pick up some flying going on today and when I called they rejected it saying I only had 8 days off. I asked them to look again as I have 9 days off on my end.

That's when they realized that I do have 9 days, however since one of them was a dropped day, it doesn't go into my pool of days off, and I cannot pick up OT on any of my remaining days off as it would bring me under 8 total days off.
