On Reserve
I was an ENVOY guy before and I was on the protected seniority number group. My friends who turn 10 years this Saturday the 18th are still holding reserve on the CRJ out of ORD as CA at the bottom of the list. The flow keeps getting pushed back and they are looking at mid 2019 right now. Reserve at ENVOY has always been 2.0 hours short call even NYC. I did it for a year and I found out that being at the I PAD by LGA was the best choice to cover LGA and JFK. I was JFK based at the time. Here how I did it: Have uniform ready to go. Once the call comes, take the bus to 82nd or Jackson Heights, then take the A train, then take the Air train. I logged in in the system 30 minutes before my report time. Commuting out of JFK to ATL is almost impossible, so LGA offered the best deal. Work around the system and it will work for you. Q Gardens is not really the best place for a crash pad if you are covering both airports. The next step is to get out of NYC ASAP if you do not want to be based there.
These are my two cents from a guy that did 3 years reserve, I was 7 from being furlough, and with no hiring always at the button. 1 at JFK, 2 at ORD.
