Thank you for all you do, please remember to do your gate announcement, wear you hat, do a galley pa, don't drop the break until push for latency, enter p codes, fly your window speed, sit around New York, commute home oh wait it's not commutable now.

I’m a NYC 900 FO. No kool aid drinker here, But life is just fine. Reserve was 3 months after training - a historic low - and life as a lineholder is good. Hell, reserve wasn’t that bad.
It’s all about perspective. Long time pilots here have it... the 10-20 year colgan/mesaba/pinnacle guys know what bad really is. We have it so, so good.

New hires should be aware of what you are signing up for. The new rates are better but New York is expensive. You will be on Reserve for quite some time and you will be abused. I came thinking the grasss greener idea but am learning quickly that it’s not what at all what I expected or signed up for. I am hoping it changes and it may just be growing pains but apparently we are only going to get bigger. I believe we may be growing too fast. Strange to say that right.
There is still no flow and the DGI is ambiguous at best. Delta pass riding is terrible and we are still not sure about priority. Without some incentives, including life style issues, it may not be worth the time here. Envoy is now hiring DECs AND THEY HAVE A PROPER FLOW! If I was an XJT guy/gal, I would not stay here waiting, wondering and sitting on airport Reserve for no reason.
Discuss.

Been here a year. I'd say everything is about timing in this industry. One class could the difference between lineholder and reserve. I've really enjoyed my time here compared to where I came from. Envoy clearly is a step down from here. The flow is like 9 years, they force upgrade everyone into new York and make you sit ready reserve every single day, i mean just read there thread...every other post is about how bad something is or how morale is low. You don't see that here. Endeavor has stuff to work on like anywhere else and for me the IROP handling and reserve grid are high on the list for me.

Life is what you make of it. New York wasn’t my favorite city but i made it work. The irops start to slow down come spring. Go to envoy then and be forced to upgrade and be junior in New York for 3 years, and add another 6-10 years at the regionals while you wait for your flow which can be taken away if the economy tanks. Our priority is coming April 1. We will be right behind delta, and that is fantastic news especially in and out of Atlanta, it’s usally the retirees that kill commutes for 9E guys. Or to non rev to places like Florida. This is a huge step.
It’s been a hard couple weeks here with the nor easterns whipping through. Being in reserve sucks but this is part of the career. You think envoy doesn’t “abuse” reserves? Lol good one then. Sorry you’ve been busy, but enjoy your pay check it’s the highest in the industry. No one said this job was glamorous or fun, no one also said this company hands out cognac and Caviar either. For the most part, this is the best place to be. Go over to the envoy threads and ask them how their QOL is compared to us. I’ll take this place over any other regional right now.

In the last 12 months or so, I'd say these boards are full of people who are appropriately critical of the company while giving credit where credit is due.
I'm sorry you're not happy here. For those reading this thread, take a quick minute to think about your previous jobs, was 100% everyone you worked with happy in their jobs? If so, I'd go back there haha.
There are things here that need major improvement, and reserve is the biggest one. But to be fair, line holder life here is really quite good. I average 15-18 days off per month. Through the end of March I'll be on track to clear 75k as a first officer. No bonuses, all pay. NYC for me is just a place I pass through on my way to work because I can commute up and back same day.
I've got it good, and you will too eventually. Just have to put up with the suck for a while.
Your experience was not my experience.

In what way are reserves being abused here? Honestly curious. I’m on my 6th month of reserve and while I’d much rather hold a line I don’t feel abused in any way. New York isn’t cheap but our pay rates are far above other regionals and you can make good money picking up opentime trips on days off. If you are unmotivated or have a poor resume Envoy or PSA might be good fits for you. Despite QOL issues that need to be addressed (like fire breaks) I prefer working here over Envoy with their 73 hour 11 day off lines and forced upgrades.
The firebreaks in April’s Schedule is a huge QOL issue, but I have no doubt that due to the very positive relationship between the company and union that we will be able to get it sorted out in some way.
