Quote: As far as I know they lowered it from 1000 to 500 to help some legacies get in the door. That said, you're getting closer to a thousand and it's a long process so don't rule yourself out.
Haven't heard that? They have a huge pilot of heavy jet guys/gals trying to come over here from Emirates, Cathay, Atlas, etc. The only recent <1K pic I know of were minorities. I'm not sure if the online application will even allow someone with less than 1K unless someone overrides it. Livetofly - wish you the best but I'm doubtful. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

Avg 236 each for each pay period, Minus taxes of course. Much better to conflict the days and get best bang for the buck.

Curious....of the fo’s That previously stated they would never have the ability to upgrade, how many have upgraded or are now bypassing? Whalesurfer? Cactus? Swedish? I think those posters previously stated about not being able to upgrade?

The scope victory (yes it’s a victory through and through) is a major game changer for new hires. A potential career changer. A precedence has been set and UPS is not free to expand and contract at will using contract carriers. If they want to grow the airline side business they have to do it in house. The monetary damages are the icing on the cake. The real win is the end date of outsourcing. Huge.

The upwards of 30m monetary penalty isn’t that much to UPS. But....it puts the failure on the radar to Wall Street especially under the Davis Doctrine. UPS will have a lot of explaining to do.

If the UPS BOD wants to ride this into the sunset that’s on them. I personally choose to think that’s a small chance. UPS hasn’t always been the innovator, but they’ve always been the leader. Hopefully they will wake up to the market forces of FedEx, Amazon etc. These are significant and capable companies.

I’d venture to say most all if not all believing they will never upgrade either have the option to upgrade before retirement or upgraded already.

Just throwing stuff out there? Why don’t you read posts before making one and assuming things.

Sorry if you didn’t say that Swedish. I should have read. I remember you posted a lot of retirement numbers but don’t remember beyond that.

There was a lot of room and gloom of not being able to upgrade.

I would still be interested to know how ppl are sitting.

Quote: I find this funny, these complaints are almost verbatim out of friends mouths that work for different airlines. Everyone always wants to think their situation is unique...
UPS is more uncooperative than the others, don’t think anyone would argue that.

What did the junior captain drop to on this last bid? Forgot and don’t have token to look.

Swedish I went back and read. No you didn’t say that. I’ll take that hit. I got two out of the three right.

More to the point (and it’s not you in this group Swedish), are the cheap anonymous group hiding in that anonymity that do nothing but stir the pot taking constant cheap shots. Upspilott direct elato PastV1. That group.

The EB that they constantly berate just headed off a potential bomb for all of our careers.

I think to be honest I’m about done with this forum. Every single thing that Ive posted has not only been an attempt to keep things from going blue on Blue but it’s been true WRT UPS and what they are all about. The anonymous cheap shots will continue and there’s no point in it. UPS is UPS and we are all here for better or for worse.

The cowardly anonymity of cheap shots adds nothing to those wanting to come here and are looking for guidance. There are those consistently trying to help (whalesurfer etc) and hopefully they will continue. Me personally I think I’m done here.

Hope this is just the hangover from Argentina and Portugal’s loss today and not a sincere goodbye. When I was in the interview and pool phase I dismissed this joint based on negative posts by brownie, commando, and others since I didn’t have any contact with the guys I eventually discovered I knew here. Luckily I was able to meet a couple of IPA guys who gave a more realistic perspective of the place shortly before UPS called with a class. Otherwise I might have turned the class down and what a mistake that would have been for no good reason. Since then I’ve tried (mostly as FTFF) to give potential new guys as much of an unbiased perspective as I can. There’s whale, Boiler, salty, and a couple of others keeping it real for the noobs-we could really use your continued participation... new guys really do appreciate the quality info.

Hmm.. I’m pretty sure I didn’t say I’ll never be able to upgrade? ..IF I did, it was an exaggeration to make a point about the super-long upgrades when compared to our peers. Still can’t do it by the way.
..but as hard as I’m trying I’m missing the point you’re trying to make? I agree with everything you said and applaud our EB. Frankly, I’m ecstatic they're able to pull that off and so quickly!

However, in what way is your comment helpful on this thread? I think you and I both (and many others) have been trying to help out those who’re trying to join our ranks. So why this comment? What does it have to do with ‘interviews and classes in 2018’??
Unless you imply that the ruling will spill over into more hiring? It’s very possible BUT maybe a separate ‘arbitrator ruling’ would’ve been better?

I can’t count how many times we’ve been asking people here to stay on topic so we may help ups wannabes who’re simply looking for advice. Years and years ago it was the gouge from APC which pointed me in the right direction. Trying to pay it back but it ain’t easy. Nowadays every thread turns into mudslinging.
You mention the anonymity of cheap shots but how is this different? I try to respect everyone’s views even if sometimes I vehemently disagree with their perspective.
This and other similar threads should be so easy - just plain hiring and interview gouge, nothing more and nothing else, but...
