no union, no voice.
Union or no union that’s just being a ****ty employer.

Quote: Attrition level is high and we lost our most commutable base on the 190 and dont have the commuter stipend anymore
Yeah, for sure. I posted this over a week ago, because of my interest in eventually applying here and making it to TPA if attrition was high. Obviously now, that's all a moot point since the E-Jet base in TPA is gone, and while I do have 121 time, I don't have the time they want for the A220. It sounds like sooner or later they'll have to improve things pay and base and commuting wise because while people may want to take a chance on a start up, if it has a base they really want and can jump on the seniority train early, it's a problem when you close that base that so many people came to the airline for. Hopefully they get their act together sooner rather than later.

Beyond that, in the start-up world, Avelo is still offering an $1800/month commuting stipend and now a bonus. It could well be some sort of gimmick since the announcement just came out today, but it shows they at least acknowledge they have to do something to stay competitive.

There isn't an airline on earth that wouldn't lock you into a seat and close your base with zero notice without a union. Delta would do it in a heartbeat. Remember in Covid when they were going to make FAs share lines?

I don’t recall if line sharing was voluntary or mandatory. I think it was voluntary like the leave programs. They also waived the 540 hour yearly minimum for health care unlike their traditional job sharing program they had. The point was to avoid furloughss. The cares act solved all that!

Quote: Who is mainly applying to Breeze these days? The 1500 hour time builders/CFI crowd, experienced regional FOs, regional check airmen like many from CPZ did? In this hiring boom what is the draw to Breeze unless low timers looking to fly a 190 or 220 over a CRJ?
Who is applying? Aussies? I can understand that; the country is turning into a fascist paradise.

I give Breeze management credit for recruiting pilots in countries that have turned into hellish nightmares.

Don’t give them all the credit…it was actually the idea of this one “infamous” (to put it nicely) former SkyWest guy who is initial breeze cadre who touted its success at SkyWest. Or so I hear.

I've got to work on my sarcasm; it was a bit too subtle.

Looking at this operation, I have to wonder how long it will take to run out of the $200M in capital they raised for this experiment of an airline. Or will the investors just pull their remaining investment like what happened at Skybus? Breeze is sounding more shaky with each passing day; the moment I saw their route structure, I gave them near zero chance of survival.

What what what? But this is Neeleman!! He started jet blue. He is going to turn the airline model on its head!

How many months did we see article after article about how they were going into underserved secondary airports with no completion? First flight, TPA-CHS and it went on to be even more underwhelming from there. Pople still won't stop speculating about the West Coast base.... Oh, the A200 will fly in the second quarter... yeah, looking like the last day of the quarter.

Neeleman is a publicity hound. Hopes he can ride the wave of free press up the hill and get over before it crashes. We will see.

Avelo was first to up pilot pay. Well, first year pilot pay.

What hasn't failed at this airline that was supposed to be revolutionary?
1. Hiring FAs to work for nothing while going to online college and living in a compound. (FAIL)
2. Flying exclusively out of secondary airports (Fail)
3. Being a decent employer. (Fail)
  • One question is whether Breeze will expand to larger markets — or consider connecting flights. Neeleman’s answer: Who knows? “We’ve got a hundred cities we’re looking it. We’re not in love with any [strategy] in particular other than making money.
  • Closing bases overnight.
  • That's not very nice!

I agree with all these statements except #2. I still think the underserved secondary markets will be $$$. Specially when regionals start to fold because of lack of pilots. The market will be wide open for the LCC’s. F9 is already going into smaller secondary airports because they too see the demand. But in order for breeze to capitalize on that potential, they will need pilots, I Just don’t see how they’re going to manage their hiring needs. Unless a couple regionals fold and all of a sudden you have 100’s on the street. Maybe that’s their strategy 🤔

And further pushed by another new hire Australian. The company has all the help they need for a race to the bottom.
