Quote: With talk about possibly being short on the CA side this summer, any rumor of CP doing upgrades at 1000 121 and getting rid of the 2500 hour requirement (for those who came in with R-ATPs)? Umm, asking for a friend...

Isn稚 this an FAA requirement and not a CPZ requirement?

Unless I'm missing something, no.

According to 14 CFR ァ 121.436

ァ 121.436 Pilot Qualification: Certificates and experience requirements.
(a) No certificate holder may use nor may any pilot act as pilot in command of an aircraft (or as second in command of an aircraft in a flag or supplemental operation that requires three or more pilots) unless the pilot:

(1) Holds an airline transport pilot certificate not subject to the limitations in ァ 61.167 of this chapter;

(2) Holds an appropriate aircraft type rating for the aircraft being flown; and

(3) If serving as pilot in command in part 121 operations, has 1,000 hours as second in command in operations under this part...

I believe you need 2500 hrs total time which can include 1000hrs of sic

I知 not sure. It may be just a leftover from not so long ago when it would have made no difference at all because NOBODY was upgrading short of 2500 hours. Or short of 1500 hours of ME, for that matter. It might be just a liability insurance requirement, BUT if it is in the contract (and I think it is) it痴 that way until there is an agreement to change it.
Just be happy how much higher on the seniority list you値l be by the time you hit 2500hrs.
The only thing I read about that, and again I may be missing something, is:

"UAA and SUI also commented that pilots who obtain an unrestricted ATP
certificate with 1,500 hours would need a minimum of 2,500 total flight hours to upgrade to a
part 121 PIC. SICs with an R-ATP certificate would need a minimum of 1,750 (military pilots)
to 2,000 total flight hours (graduates of qualifying four-year aviation degree programs) to
upgrade to a part 121 PIC."

Right... I知 pretty sure he would gladly give up the ability to drop in to the captains list with seven months seniority over the captains plug for the seven months of captains pay and the TPIC he would accumulate if he could upgrade earlier.

Take it from someone who bypassed 150fos when I upgraded only to have hiring and upgrade stop right after, being on rsv for 20 months sucked!!!! Enjoy being senior for now and hopefully upgrade and sit rsv for only a few short months! The ca check is nice however rsv sucks!

No. The only time-based FAA requirement is 1000 hours of 121 SIC.

Back when 9E was upgrading new hires, they waved their 2500 TT and 1000 company time limits left and right. The only limitation that they couldn't wave was that 1000 hours 121 SIC, so it stood.

Yuuuuup. I'll give up seniority if it means CA pay and working on those 1000 TPIC hours to hopefully get a call. One can hope...

Having come from the Army (and I do appreciate my time there), reserve can't be that bad lol
