I doubt it would result in termination.

More likely medically retired on ltd.

I view the process as exactly what it is... A Process. That process could result in discipline. When a crew is taken offline after an incident pending investigation is that discipline? Were the LGA 88 Crew disciplined just because they were taken off the line paid?

Apples and oranges.

What if you wrote an ASAP because of some operational safety concern and the response from the company was to take you offline and put you through a hearing where one of the outcomes was termination? Or, what if you refused to extend and reported unfit/fatigued and the company sent you to get evaluated by their doctor. Would you not feel like this was a form of discipline or intimidation? Would you be okay with a kangaroo court?

Are any of those what ifs what happened in this case?

If not....whats the point?

In any incident-accident i doubt any of us would not expect a review and investigation of the event and our actions. It comes with the job.

And yes, pending outcome id expect to be off the schedule. Fortunately our pwa makes it a paid absence.

My take on this case is the pilots difficulties were in large part....self inflicted. And not the result of a highly demanding operational environment that precipitated an accident or incident.

You are the one who brought up the LGA88 incident as an example, even though that example wasn't at all related to sending emails.

If that were the case that would be absurd. However that is not the case nor has Delta ever initiated this type of behavior.

Now if I had constantly been badging Delta Flt Ops about Safety with nothing to back it up, pull myself off line for more training because I think Delta training department is not good, write several books and blogs with underhanded insults at the company that employs me, and then have an HR interview that leaves the interviewer so disturbed they couldn't sleep I seriously would be ok with a kangaroo court because I deserve it.

Yes, apples and oranges.

The pilot in question had a personal agenda that became an axe to grind against Delta because she was told "no". Her pursuit of that agenda and demonstrated state of mind in front of HR is the reason she was placed on leave.

I've flown with Captain WOW and the subject of the discussion. Both were very interesting.
