Probably because I'm expecting the churn will generate considerable movement across fleets in SDF, and lack the perspective of an ANC 747 pilot concerned about possible downside impacts to ANC trip and line construction.
Makes sense.
Although this churn could become very beneficial for relatively junior guys, wouldn’t you say? MUCH quicker upgrade than previously envisioned.
Current whale FOs on the other hand, who thought they’d be able to upgrade pretty soon might have to wait a few more years. The new SDF domicile means senior guys/gals will be coming over to ANC too. Once they can hold SDF they’ll simply switch like 75/76 guys do now.

That seems like a risky proposition IMO, signing one's self up for a commute to ANC with the hope that you'd someday be able to hold 747 SDF CA. That seems a "long game" well beyond bidding first available upgrade in ONT and bidding back to SDF the subsequent bid.

The thought that they have to keep SDF 747 bid small because of the “associated churn” is a fallacy. Article 14E-e1 a-c addresses this. Each and every system/realignment bid since I have been here have been affected by this. I myself have been personally affected twice. I think that many people here and on the line use here say as gospel. The fact is, every vacancy bid created the exact same amount of “churn”. The only thing different on this is the paid move portion which is, in reality, negligible.

You don’t think broken seat locks and the ability to downbid will play any factor?

A factor? Possibly on where the seniority stack shakes out. On the actual number of training events? No. That’s all in the contract. Every system bid creates the exact same number of “churn”. Literally the only thing different on this bid is the paid move section. UPS will do whatever UPS wants. But to say it’s because of “too much training” is a fallacy.

The churn I mention relates directly to the “seniority stack”, not number of training events because as you say, those are contractually capped based upon the number of vacancies on any new domicile bid.

Hope you get it soon. I’ve bypassed 3 bids so far, looks like it’ll be a while longer. Oh well... :-/

What about the hundreds of seat-locks that’ll expire because of the new domicile? Guys/gals who just finished their training will now be able to bid other fleets and domiciles. That’s VERY different from other bids, isn’t it?

Wrong...you cant comeoff seat lock unless you can hold 74 sdf...ie if you're seat locked on Airbus you cant switch to 76.
