Quote: pretty confident about most of this:
Gk, playing his best william seward, approached as in a let’s make a deal for alaska. As board was lukewarm to the idea as the exchanges seemed to try and pull a seward style distressed value deal. It is my understanding that luv is still pressing but as is still desperately trying to stay independent.

Jetblue has also expressed interest, going so far as to secure secret scope relief from its pilots, if a merger were to happen, in exchange for a no furlough clause and a slush fund, for a possible sli with alaska. This is a mec nda, it is not quite as credible as the swa info, but i think it’s legit. This front is stone cold quiet, so i am guessing it is still very much in play.

Where are nwaa, beanie baby, and al....
Aal to furlough 2100 this fall and another 1900 in the spring if things don’t turn around. Likely bankruptcy by april of 2021😱. This rumor comes as the gold standard, i have such confidence in its origins that i would bet it every day in vegas and twice on sundays. I know, i know, aal is getting “a lot of negative press about full flights in the news media, maybe you have heard about this.”

remember these quotes... “aal and spirit are running new hire classes while we furlough.”
how do we like alaska now?
Alaska mec take your bow
no furloughs, 1100+- leaves, most should be awarded.👍
100% bs...😉

A simple google search will clear up OTZ/MEA’s claims on a SWA buyout. What a joke.

He has clearly said they are in survival mode and not considering acquisitions. That may be the case. But not an absolute. He's conveying a message to employees and possibly congress, and he has his reasons. He's not sharing his intentions with the general public just to keep us all fully informed

Anything along these lines wouldn't execute until it's clear where the industry is headed anyway, way too early in 2020.

He’s making statements like: their passenger count was down similar to other large airlines, similar cash burn, similar survival issues.

Clearly indicating to employees and shareholders alike that there were systemic, threat to life issues.

I don’t wish anything negative on any of the SWA employees but GK is not talking about sunshine and rainbows. Acquiring a new airline, while not impossible is certainly extremely improbable.

Yeah so GK is supposed to go on record and say, “we are looking at acquiring another airline.” I think that is SOP😂, no I think they lie through their teeth until the day the deal is done. If anyone is going to grab a dance partner they are going to suppress the deal as long as they possibly can. Do you know what would happen to Alaska’s market cap if GK says they are actively shopping. This info came from a reliable source, I put it at very credible!(FA in the C concourse told me 😂 &#128521
I don’t think either deal will get done, unless someone goes hostile, AS’s board seems to have no palate for it. Time will tell.

Yes, you are right. That is all I ever do. How many times have I written BS? Right right. It is credible, I assure you.

Right... months before I said 600 smaller summer of 2021, you all laughed, how could anyone know the exact number this far out, with all the uncertainty... I said 385 on the hook... I said we need 1900 pilots for the fall, 2400 for the summer when everyone said “no one can know anything at this point.” Everything I have written has been proven 100% correct. How many guys did I PM who asked about the pending furlough, guys worried about their jobs, did I tell a ALV or ILOA has a reasonable chance of saving their job? How many, I bet 10-30, I wish they would chime in!

Remember my good friend wrote this months before it happened:

Furloughs have significant costs too. I hate to be too optimistic but maybe.

The JB MEC gave temporary scope relief for mgmt to enter a codeshare agreement with AA in exchange for no furloughs. No way they would just give away scope to allow RJs, etc.
