Quote: What base did you choose? It looks like you'll be in a pretty similar boat to me. IF I fly this cycle coming up Wednesday, it'll still be 6 weeks since my checkride which is pretty crazy. My skills certainly are going to atrophy as another said, and in going to let my IP be fully aware of that when I finally get one.

I know of af least 2 others from my February class who haven't touched a plane yet either. And other who have finished IOE but are still on home standby. Lack of work due to low time I imagine? No green on green.
I don't think it's a green/green situation. It's a no one wants to take on IP duties/responsibilities anymore. No offense, but the risk is no longer worth the reward. It's cliche to say but the grass is greener elsewhere. I wish the new hires goodluck and everyone at PSI for that matter. I do appreciate the company, it's just way too far behind the curve and it's going to catch up with them in the very near future.

New guys - collecting a paycheck for not flying in a pilot shortage is a red flag. I honestly wish you the best, but please plan on getting an email that you are no longer needed. You're 1 1/2 years from upgrading or leaving for
A regional because you have 1500 hrs. The company needs CAPTAINS. They are not attracting or retaining them. It is not sustainable. If you are new here or thinking of applying, please have a backup plan. Keep your CFI current, and don't change your life for the opportunity.

Such a shame, you're locked into an 18 month contract and aren't flying. Anyone ever thought of Tradewind Aviation (135) versus Planesense? Tradewind has no contract. Downside is you need to be flexible with relocating every season.

As i was in Sims with PSI I talked to some old friends from my flight school that worked there. They fired a bunch of recent hires on the spot because they over hired. Everything ive heard about the company is atrocious in how they treat their pilots.

About 1/4th of every new hire class is direct entry captains. While that's only 3 every class, with the upgrades that are also good on I really don't see them having a long term problem.

The company has managed to do very well for itself for a very long time. No one at the company seems to be worried about its future, and to suggest that the company would spend millions yearly in training just to let new hires go before even getting on the line, or shortly thereafter, is a little bit preposterous in my opinion. I don't think they're that financially irresponsible.

I'm not trying to drag you down, but would anyone happen to know the pass rate for new to the company street captains? It's not good is all I know. Classes of 12 turn into classes of 8 really quick when people are not even showing up. The well of suitable IP candidates has gone dry, and captain upgrades will soon be grinding to a stop due to lack of 1500hr pilots. It's a shame, but these are the facts.

The pass rate for the direct entry captains is much much lower than for FO's. Like, incredibly low.

I think it's clear to everyone who reads this forum that you were not a fit here, and I'm glad you aren't going to put up with another summer. You are poison on the line, and poison here on the forum. Pack your things and go please. This company is not everything for everyone, but as someone who has worked quite a few jobs, I can tell you that while this grass isn't perfect, it is mostly green. My bet is that you'll move to the next place, work there for a few years, then start poisoning those around you claiming layoffs, furloughs, unfair, unsustainable, etc.

You aren't adding a single thing to this forum except for poison. Poison for the high timers, for those who just got here, and those who look on PlaneSense as a good and viable step in their aviation careers. Look back on your posts, mostly alarmist prophecies of doom.

No rebuttal necessary, we know how you feel and how you will perceive this post. Please go, have a wonderful career, best of luck.

As someone who's been at PSI for almost 4 years I get what the poison is and where it's coming from, however it's source is misunderstood, and it's also not everyone's experience. PSI is doing fine and will continue doing fine. Its also not our first experience with high attrition.

What it comes down to is QOL, and if you don't mind working (lots of us don't, and not surprisingly, we also don't b1tch on the internet about it) you'll do just fine here. the summer pace sucks, and so does the ever changing schedule (FWIW, blaming the schedulers over this is incredibly short-sighted and shows you don't understand how on-demand operations work) among other things.

What makes up for it is an awesome plane, incredible stick and rudder flying (if you want) and perks. Not only that, but knowing the CEO on a first name basis isn't impossible and he appreciates the opportunity to do so.

And yet there will always be something to complain about.

Accordian - good luck at the new gig, and hope to grab lunch again soon - this time with some beers

I do not lunch with your sir! Or any man for that matter!
My sustenance is the young rotting flesh of new hires rotting away in the Hampton inn! I drink the sweat of the pilots loading bags and waiting out groundstops with only a GPU and Walmart air conditioner! My lifeblood is crushing the souls and morale of all pilots who dare defy me! Poison?
POISON YOU SAY! Poison so vicious because its toxins are bound with TRUTH! I....AM....ACCORDION! And I am here to set you free! Or I'm just kidding...mostly just kidding.

Do planesense pilots still wear their Pease SIDA badge all over the place? Even when they are at a different airport like PDK?
