what is an IP stipend?

The IP stipend is additional pay for the Instructor Pilots. Currently they get additional Instructor pay on the days that they are doing instruction (IOEs, sim training, ect.). Now they will be receiving the stipend on every paycheck for as long as they are a Company IP. Additionally they will still receive the Instructor pay on days that they instruct.

There were some murmurs of trying to get a signature drive together when I was there, but GA got wind of it and said he’d shut the company down if a union got voted in. Never heard about it again.

Any suggestions/thoughts on steps to take before applying if I've been out of the game for a bit? 2200 TT, 600 in a Hawker as FO for 135 op in 2012. Instructed part-time for about 200 hrs in 2019 but then took a few non-flying jobs during the pandemic.

Go get current in anything, maybe pick up back at your CFI gig, rehack your medical if you need to. Currency is pretty much required to get a call I'd say and if you can get some recency, that's even better. With your experience, honestly just some rentals for a couple $100 hamburgers will help. Your 135 and jet time will be the main thing that puts you over the top, recency is just to get the system better stack your app. Good luck.

I received an email that they now bring in DEC captains as FO's for a few trips and then are eligible for upgrade. Is this correct?

Is one paid as an FO or Captain during this period?

If paid as an FO, what are the pay/benefits during training?

If paid as an FO during this time period, is there a bonus/back pay for successfully upgrading to Captain?

I read here that they now have 7 on/7off, is this reality?

It's been like this for a while. You are paid as a CA. They found that they've had more success with having the DECs come in as FOs for a few trips. When I first started they were having a lot of DEC failures when going strait into the left seat. It gives more time to learn the operation since a lot of guys are coming from airlines which run very differently. Also airline guys were having trouble programming the airplane since it's not a normal FMS. The whole goal is to be less stress and a better success rate. Not sure about the 7/7 thing as it's been a while since I worked there

Because of the unique nature of our operation, it was deemed necessary for DECs to have a period as an FO to become accustomed to the fractional / 135 operation. Unless you are coming from a similar background where the PIC does the majority of the flight planning (no dispatchers), coordinating the stocking and cleaning of the aircraft on the road, the face to face interaction with owners etc... the learning curve has proved too steep for many. Your ability as a pilot is only one part of the skill set. Dealing with the pace and schedule variability is something pilots coming from the 121 world's more predictable schedule and pacing can struggle with.

The recent changes to quality of life in the form of 12 hours of rest / 12 hours of duty, the new 7&7 schedule and the improved compensation has made work life a much easier pill to swallow. There has never been a better time to be at Planesense.

Has anyone in a recent class been at their published mins, or know of others who were? I'm currently right at 750tt as a CFI and PlaneSense has been my preferred job for a while. I submitted an app but just curious as to my chances getting an interview right at mins. I read a few posts back they were only considering those with 1000tt, is that still the case? TIA.
