Quote: Reading this thread, I’m very hesitant to want to be affiliated with the overall JetBlue group. There seems to be a lot of internal hostility, well beyond anything here at Spirit (not that we don’t have our own problems).

When the Spirit Frontier merger was announced, we were both united against our own management groups, not our own pilots. When this was announced, LOA-whatever was brought up, and vaccines, and it turns into a blather fest…..

I personally love the JetBlue product, but based on a lot of the crap that has been posted, I’m not sure I want to tie the knot. But, it’s not up to me. If we do, I hope we have happy times flying together bashing our management while later enjoying beers at the overnight.
Don't let the few online blowhards that we have make you think that it's hostile at all. The group is great, and we have very few "a holes." This group has a super vocal online presence of some truly top-notch a holes, but those are in the very small minority of the overall group. I haven't had a bad trip or bad overnight in a long, long time. It's a good group of pilots, and from what I know about you guys, I think it will be an excellent match in terms of personalities.

Agreed I think it would be an excellent match. I’ve enjoyed jumpseating regularly on Spirit because of the great crews, and would be very happy to work with you all and combine our strengths. Our Florida and Central/upper South America network would be outstanding.
I was having the same feelings tranquility, the last two post give me hope. B6 mgmt can call it an acquisition but let’s be honest, B6 needs NK much more than NK needs B6. This a three way play, last dog to the bowl the runt, dies. That’s why B6’s offer was so aggressive. While NK’s service lacks, it’s model is extremely profitable. Everyone brings an ipad or phone, TV’s are no longer needed. Combine the best of both worlds is something to be excited about. Roll our product into what B6 is now, meh. This will take the right guy at the helm, is the B6 CEO smart and willing enough? Interesting that BB is still on B6 board.

The Spirit model dies if this merger goes through. Our CEO basically said Spirit planes would be retrofitted and everything incorporated into the Jetblue. So the ULCC processes you're used to will no longer exist. I think we all need to stop the dyck measuring contest. I have commuted on Spirit several times and I have had nothing but great things to say about the people that work there from the gate agents to the FAs and the guys and girls up front. Don't mind the *********s who come on here from B6. They were abused as children.

If the Spirit board approves this deal and IF the DOJ lets it go through, it should be a fairly easy SLI merge I believe. Career expectations are the same with narrow body fleets. The merge should be basically a DOH/relative seniority tweak. A new 8000+ seniority pilot group just under the size of SWA with service all over the US, expanding service in Europe and probable service to Hawaii too as well should be something we rally behind, not let it divide us.

GL to everyone. I for one hope this goes through.

They’re not buying the model. They’re buying the planes, pilots, and hard goods to explode JetBlue

Well said!

Here's to hoping we become Jblu crew! 🍻

Thankfully!!

The worst part about this merger is the **** bags running this company will make a bunch of money off of it. Small price to pay though for something a little nicer.

Now we just have to hope the F9 deal dies.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tend to agree I’m growing a bit tiresome of the ULCC BS. However, not super interested in wearing blue shirts or being on a PTO program. I like my vacation and sick in their own banks. I do think their pilot group is much more engaged than either us or frontier and know they’re worth more so that would help in a JCBA

I think this move is all about competing with SWA. JB isn’t really a contender at their current size and spirit/frontier isn’t really a massive threat to SWA with the ULCC and their combined size.

We have separate PTO and vacation banks. Not enough, but they’re separate.

Our contract requires a JCBA so no parallel operations which should give us more leverage. I’m all about white shirts. Probably easier to find 8000+ new style white shirts than 3500+ blue ones.

Exactly.

The ULCC model works, but I’ve been wondering about it’s viability in a job environment where the competition can hire away the seniority list and recruits. B6 seems to have realized the issues with the latter for themselves.

About 15 hurdles to clear before I even start to worry about the color of my work shirt.
