Quote: Ameriflight partners with UAV start-up Natilus to bring unmanned cargo aircraft into the market.

Interesting quote from the company themselves: "Natilus aims to address pilot shortages using its autonomous technologies."
So if low time pilot gigs, such as AMF, become more rare due to automation, how are pilots supposed to build hours to get to the airlines, something that likely will not be automated in the foreseeable future?

Airlines will adapt to the MPL format, sponsoring young pilots and subsidizing their training, offering an FO slot in 737 or A320 (or possibly CRJ) airframes with 200 hours.

Of course, the ATP would need to be modified.

Housing in BQN Puerto Rico
Former Amflight pilot and currently flying for Brown. I live in Aguadilla, PR (BQN) about 1 mile from the airport and my neighbor has two beautiful apartments 1 and 2 bedroom for rent. Great location for pilot based in BQN, great neighborhood and 5 minutes from Ameriflight. If you are anyone you know is interested PM. Thanks!

Will they hire off the street for Saab F/O? I meet the mins for BE99 Captain but would rather get into the Saab operation if possible, even though it would be SIC vs PIC.

You’d choose FO pay over CA? Also, SICs typically upgrade to captain in the 99. You won’t necessarily upgrade in the Saab.

I loved the BQN side of the island as opposed to the SJU side when I flew down there.

We generally have no problem getting low time folks to hire into our SF340 and E120 aircraft. Since our goal is to move those folks into the left seat of our other aircraft, we have no real need to hire someone into the right seat that meets the requirements of a Part 135 IFR Captain. And we generally don't move 340 and 120 first officers directly over to the left seat of those aircraft. So if becoming a 340 Captain is your ultimate goal, you are better off starting in one of our other aircraft AS a captain.

I have an agency telling me that if you are a charter pilot, in addition to the $97000 per year, you will also earn an extra of $50000-$70000 per year in charter incentives. Would anyone kindly clarify that?

Directly from the job posting:
http://ameriflight.hrmdirect.com/emp...rt1=26543&#job
Quote:
First year compensation up to $174,000 annually*
$97,091 base salary
$31,000 mileage incentive
$46,000 pilot load compensation
The numbers are based on the average charter activity over the past year. In addition to the base salary, you get paid extra to load the aircraft, and you get paid a certain amount per mile that you fly. I believe it's $0.18/nm

BustedGear,

As charter pilots, which aircraft and base do you actually work close to these figures 97000+(50000 to 70000) per year?

Are the Ameriflight EMB120 or SB340 PIC hours credited towards § 121.436 Pilot PIC Qualification under

(3) If serving as pilot in command in part 121 operations, has 1,000 hours as:

(iii) Pilot in command in operations under § 135.243(a)(1) of this chapter; OR

(iv) Pilot in command in eligible on-demand operations that require the pilot to satisfy § 135.4(a)(2)(ii)(A) of this chapter;
