Quote: On another note, does anyone know why I was charged $18 for "travel" on my pay stub? I used a buddy pass, but paid for that by credit card when booking it. Do they charge twice now?
Imputed income. They charge you in one section of the pay stub and then credit you in another. For tax implications I was told.
Quote: This was discussed earlier in the year, posts 11628 & 11632 (Pages 1163/1164). Seems plausible, at least from my limited understanding of running an airline.
You werent 'charged' $18. It was withheld income tax on imputed income from a taxable benefit. Spirit was the last airline to comply with the IRS requirement. Its done that way so you know the value of the gift if you give a buddy pass to someone.

Thank you, I see that now.

He's just a douche that thinks he's better than us, that's all. It's all good when the legacies grow, but if Spirit does it, "oh, my god, they're dumping cheap seats, that's not fair". Sounds like their moaning about the ME carriers, just because the ME carriers have a better product.
Quote: AMR operates 6,700 flights per day. We have about 300. Them losing money to match our prices on ~100 flights per day won't cause much more than a small dip in their profits. But it will significantly affect us.
we are making 20% profit margins and have a <.06 cent CASM. They are going to have to drop their prices quite a bit lower to affect us to the point where I would get too worried. Plus there are laws against predatory pricing. They can't just one day say "let's sell all markets where we compete with spirit for $2 per seat until they go out of business". They would have to lower them slowly over time and have some plausible reason to do so. By that time we will be over 100 planes. Then if it gets to where the ULCC market can't make any money, Spirit and Frontier will merge into a large enough airline that it won't matter.
