I also think they worded it in a very smart way. They are letting every know that if you want to limit Out of Base Open time P/U, it will have to be negotiated, so think loooonnggg and hard if you want to waste everyone's time & money pursuing such foolishness

Not sure I understand why picking something up out of base is such an issue over there. At my current airline we have no restrictions on that. That flexibility seems to be more helpful than hurtful for the pilot group more often than not. Especially when you are a commuter and a trip out of a different base might work better. Seems a little short sided to me unless there are specific issues that Spirit has with that that are unique....

I'm not even sure Jason came out and specifically stated he was in favor?
Maybe I'm mistaken, but how does this even make it to the table without some sort of union support?

I'm not a fan of the open time resolution and I will say "EFF THAT" as well. However, what the Union is doing is giving you a chance to voice your opinion.
So instead of *****ing about it on here, voice your opinion and move on, already have spoken to Ackerman about it and it has zero support of getting voted in.
So all relax before you all stroke out

The issue is the imbalance in pilots who currently live in FLL. With quick upgrades come imbalances that should eventually work themselves out. LAS is our current junior CA base, DFW is probably next, but an overwhelming number of CAs live in FLL, what's happening are CAs are dropping their whole lines and then living off picking up open time in FLL. Since the contract and FLICA allow this, I don't see a problem. THe very senior CAs are complaining because they can't drop and pick up at will, since open time is a first come, first serve deal. This is only a FLL issue, but any change would have to be done system wide. And, it would affect everyone. The senior CAs already have it good, just fly the line you're awarded, pick up open time like the rest of us and quit whining. Have I got the gist of it right? Since I don't live in base, I wasn't able to attend the union meeting where this resolution on open time was introduced, but unless everyone wants to limit their options, this should be voted down. dont forget too the strict enforcement of picking up open time within two days via FLICA was a result of this complaint.
