Also the out of base captains that life in FLL have commuting at stake so they stalk open time and are very very quick to grab anything that comes open so even the FLL captains that want to make simple swaps cannot because there is nothing left to trade with. This also creates more red days on the other bases so because guys that live in FLL are dropping their lines to pick up in FLL. This makes it harder for the guys that actually live in those other bases to drop or make swaps that move days later in the month.

Fixed it for you. Though you speak the truth about the motivation to do it and the consequences.

You're putting words in my mouth but IMO they pick up tons of open time not because we're underpaid but because the previous contract conditioned them to. Honestly I don't care why they pick it up. Or that they do. Pick up as much as you want. Making money is not a crime. Claiming to own open time because you are based a certain place is

Btw many in our list are much more than 30% underpaid. A 3rd year fo needs a $54/hr increase or 69% just to gain pairity with American. A 3rd year captain needs an $85/hr increase or 67%. That's not including the 7% increase im 401k contribution and getting my 9% contribution back in my pocket

One more reason why we need to get our focus off of stupid resolutions like this one and concentrate on actually improving our contract. There should be NO bargaining priority assigned to this whatsoever, it is nothing more than a way to divert our attention. Focus people, quit focusing on this chump change stuff and let's concentrate on the bigger picture.

The FLL FOs need to wake up and get educated. Unless they defer for many years, they are not upgrading into FLL. They too will commute to ORD, DFW, LAS, MSP, IAH wherever. .and will want to pick up FLL trips.

It is not so much the picking up of open time out of base but the way two of them are doing it, especially the one.

I'll speak for myself. Both sides of the argument have merit. I am willing to have an intelligent, unbiased conversation about it and show that I really do understand both sides. I am a DFW CA and yes I try to pick up a trip every once in a while in FLL. That being said: I haven't succeeded once until June. Not once. There's never open time.

Am I in favor of it? I am in favor of whatever the FLL Pilots require of me. I will also lead when they may not understand a certain situation etc. I hope you guys will at least freely talk about it like you're doing here. We want to hear you. But you know what? Fill out the survey. But don't do it without knowing the facts.

The spirit of the resolution is to give in base pilots "a chance" at the trips befire out if base pilots get them. Then they can trade etc and thise junior in base pilots can live better. How can I deny that representation? Unless I want to be recalled, I have to represent what they brought to us and do whatever I can to fight for them and get them SOMETHING.

If there is a compromise to be had, I'll happily hear it. I believe a small window to allow in base pilots to bid, first come, first serve is fair. Everything you see would remain the same. Everyone can bid. But the out of base trades/etc would be handled in order after that short period. Shoot, even ten minutes would be fair IMO. But I'm open to discussion on it.

Remember: management is watching.

4-6 hours is fair, not 10 minutes. CS can't even seem to process an add or swap request in that time frame anyway.

Hi, management! Have a great weekend.

I understand what you're saying here, BUT I truly think you have some things wrong. You were elected as the FLL FO Rep, therefore doesn't that mean you should be representing the FLL FOs? I think everyone can appreciate your in a tight spot, but this resolution is wholly supported by FLL captains, and no one else. I know on this issue, you are NOT representing me, since I am against this resolution and I am am definitely against any negotiating effort being put towards it. Daily open time is a first come, first serve basis, everyone knows that. There is no bias or favoritism shown (although some will say the captain who's most upset over this has been shown an extreme amount of favoritism), if you want open time, you put in for it. If your the first person to put in for it, you get it, if you're not, you don't. Until the union scheduling reps come out and say FLICA is biased or people are using automated FLICA apps, I don't believe there is any conspiracy in picking up open time. What I believe people are upset about is because they can't get exactly everything they want, when they want it and how they want it. I Must be clear, one more time, I am against this resolution, and more so I am against ANY discussion of this resolution in any contract negotiation with the company.

I do believe people are using automated apps to snag open time. It's happening in both seats. FOs it's the same guys getting everything. Then after they decide they don't like it it magically reappears in open time two minutes later. They take the risk that if the day isn't green they can't drop back in but I'd almost be sure if something hits open time and they are legal and it's a turn or a two day their app pics it up automatically. They then analyze it and keep it or dump it back in.

This was confirmed to have happened at JetBlue with flica. It happened at Expressjet with an in house software package. It's naive to think it's not happening here. The key is getting proof and stopping it to level the field in first come first serve.

We use Flica for open time as well and I'm aware of alerts one can set up and get a text when something opens, but what app is this that you speak of? I'm curious to know.
