Quote: The point is not that one can't get the holiday off as a junior person, the point is that those people working on what our society considers a major holiday, get something extra for it.
That’s a point, but I’m more interested in some of those holiday off days filtering further down the list. Could save a few people per base who want to be home from attempting to fill up on reserve early or “scheme” the system. I really don’t see the huge negative here.

I got two paychecks. Has anyone ever seen this before? Together they add up to what I was expecting, but I've never seen it broken into two checks before. Anyone know why that is?

Happened to me a year or so ago. CPSC or whatever they’re called now sent me to the standard 1-800-number, which was totally worthless.
Called CPO and was transferred directly to an HR rep, who was helpful, but I still had to go round and round with her. Everything looked correctly to her, but as she dug deeper (at my persistence, mind you), she discovered a mysterious deduction somewhere that was not on my pay statement.
I never learned why that happened, because I did not press to find out.
PM me if you would like her name.

The pay stubs aren’t visible until the calendar before the official pay date. So, it’s not visible until today the 14th.

Quote: GS carryover question. On July's time card I have a few hours of GS credit from a June - July spillover GS. If I don't get to the 75 hour GS trigger in July, do I lose the few hours of GS credit?

You have to hit the trigger in both months for a spillover GS so the answer is yes.

Quote: Even at 98% I can get holidays off scheming the system.
Hope is not a plan.

Browsing random categories, I saw as high as 55% seniority getting coverage over July 4th weekend.

This is very telling about how poor our system is. When you don't sit holidays at 98%, someone at 97% or 90% or 55% has to. If one must scheme the system to overcome the scheming of someone else who is junior, we have a problem (IMHO).

Of course many people for many reasons don't want holiday pay. But I think the majority of our list would enjoy such a policy.

Schemes or scheming implies some nefarious context. Using the PWA to his benefit isn’t a scheme in my book. Just MHO, too.

Amen brother. But it is pretty convoluted.
