We better be careful. Before we know it, LaHood will make us change that too.
Quote: Think the original request will go through, and there will be no ruling on who owns the slots.
Agreed. After getting the DOT to go out on a limb and do their dirty work, SWA went out and made them look like fools for doing exactly what the DOT said they couldn't do....get slots at fair market value.

Now to save face, it's the only out for the DOT unless they want a prolonged court battle with a potentially bad outcome. The status quo is MUCH preferred.

Swapped approved, ASAP, with no conditions.

UAL/CAL got snookered into playing their game. Our team didn't. Kudos.

what's up with all of Europe's loads! I'd understand Germany being out of the question due to Oktoberfest but every single european city is showing oversold. So much for hitting the old continent before winter sweeps in. Good to see business is booming i suppose.
*Alert* Thread Drift from the regularly scheduled topic of AE/WN-FL merger.

Anyone been able to book a room at the "downtown" crew hotel in New York lately? (i.e. last couple of weeks?) I've called the front desk, even asked the supervisor, and keep getting the same answer of "we don't honor the Delta Crew Rate anymore." Even though our crews are still staying there?

Reason I ask, I'm taking my girlfriend to the New York Metropolitan Opera, opening show of Boris Gudonov. Would've preferred staying at the above mentioned hotel. (Name left out for security reasons.) But, as mentioned, every time I've called, I've "hit a brick wall" with whomever I talked to.

If your recent experience has been the same, any advice on how to find a decent hotel in Manhattan without worrying about the "bed bug" infestation?

Thanks in advance. As always, fly safe,

GJ
Mu understanding is that there is no discount at the downtown overnight. Most guys I've taljed to said to try the priceline sites.
Quote: New service from ATL to Luanda, Angola using the A330-200. Nice high-time trip, at least (I'm guessing it'll be a 4 pilot crew).

Let me know how the layover is...
Should be under 12 hours... it is a stopover in DKR.

But to the 330 crews....
Take your damn Malarone.. and wear DEET. No excuse not to.

FTB,

Thanks, appreciate the response. Was going off the "crewguide" website that someone put together, and is password protected, but is more than likely outdated information.

Quote: They also have some of the greatest health risks (Malaria, Dengue Fever, etc.) yet there is no additional pay. This MUST be addressed in our next contract.
Interesting take... it's a great health risk, but extra money makes it OK? Really... it is a tough issue. I don't know the answer, aside from making any assignment to go there completely voluntary.. even for reserves. But I expect that is there is some sort of premium on the flight time/pay, it will never be in open time. As it is, it is rarely in open time now.
Quote: Hey.. but with the typical Utah family.. 2+7 kids... that is a savings of $297..

Oh my heck!

now now, lets be responsible and remember don't knock it till you try it.

my wife's friends once said that she wouldn't mind being in a polygamist marriage because you'd have help, and a buddy, and if you don't want to have sex that night you don't have too! Of course if you knew what she had to put up with it makes sense in a way.

Guys that have done it say go early on day 1, pay to have the bellhops watch your stuff, go play, then come back that night to sleep in your postage stamp room then next morning have the bellhops watch your stuff, go play, go get your stuff and go to the airport and freak out that even on your S2 you're number 67 of 112 on the nonrev list. So go on a Tuesday or something.
