Haha. I (DAL-N) was introduced to the DPA website by a DAL-S captain in Atlanta. He was even handing out DPA stickers. This issue has nothing to do with DAL-S/DAL-N or the merger. DPA rumblings started due to some recent ALPA failings icluding (but not limited to):
1. Age 65 passing
2. ALPA cannot keep representing majors and regionals together. Huge conflict of interest. ALPA currently represents only 3 majors (DAL, UAL, FDX) and 28 regionals/others. Guess how that is going to play out.
3. 1500hr requirement issue. ALPA wants to bring it down (to around 500hrs) by siding with the Regional industry and RAA while all other pilot unions in the US are in favour of a hard 1500hr minimum to occupy a 121 cockpit.
4. Huge paycuts to save pensions / pensions dissapeared soon afterwards. Negotiated pay away for nothing.
5. Pay disparity between pilots and ALPA national office. We all took a 40% paycut but ALPA national salaries did not see any such hit. ALPA secretaries/admisnistrators/IT etc make more than regional captains or DAL widebody FOs.
etc..etc..
Again...this issue has absolutely nothing to do with NWA/DAL merger.
