Alpa should have worded the Oct message differently. That message came across as weak and pathetic. While throwing stones may not have the desired affect it does give the impression that the union is on our side and not managements. If Alpa had just asked all flight crews to avoid the backscatter machines and report excessive molestation I'd be happy. If they told us they were working towards a compromise with the TSA and had meetings set up within the next two weeks that would help too. Get it Alpa??? We want communication of upcoming events, not just stuff that happened last week. I appreciate what has been behind the scenes but don't be such a NANCY!!!!! Quit with the political correctness crap....your a union with 10's of thousands of members...get tougher. Our own MEC should have grown a pair as well. They should take a PUBLIC stand against this. CNN is in our backyard...use them to our advantage.

As sailingfun stated so eloquently, its kind of hard to work out a compromise solution behind the scenes AFTER you punch your opponent in the face in public.
I want ALPA to do both. I'm tired of ALPA's politically correct bullsh!t statements. ALPA needs to put out simpler, clearer statements that represent the view of the pilots. Every single time I read an ALPA statement, I smile at the thought of them being de-certified.

The disgruntled NW pilots answer to USAPA, The silent majority at Delta will crush the DPA vote. Just my opinion.

Yep, the exact same thing happened after the Western merger. I doubt it will even get close to a vote.

Public support is meaningless. They could care less if you go through security or not. In fact they probably prefer that you do. Your never going to get any real support from the public.

Now this is a great response, no really.

It was in response to all the naysayers that said ALPA wasn't doing jack squat about any of this. It was to once again reiterate that yes, they are working behind the scenes for you.

What do want them to do, spew rhetoric to make you feel better? Then have this rhetoric thrown in the faces of all of those ppl that have influence on these decisions. If you look at the laundry list of ppl they met with many of them were campaigning for their seats over the last few weeks, so the fact that they got any face time what so ever show prove to you the kind of pull ALPA does in fact have on the Hill.

I know these facts are inconvenient to you argument.

finis,

Forgive me. But, where in the world does hockey's dreams of ALPA decertification lead you to bring the conversation to a "disgruntled NW Pilots" vs. "the silent majority at Delta" discussion? We haven't been in that place for at least a few pages, so you can keep your opinion.

Sailing,

Yep? Give it a rest. (Disgruntled) North v. (Silent Majority) South is dead. With this issue, there is no yep.

You call it politically correct, I call this letter an actual matter of fact statement of what the heck they have been doing. They are in addressing their pilots concerns and telling you this is what we have been doing so that CREWPASS gets some actual transaction.

Now when this little Q and A comes out on the National site, everyone should take the time and go fill it out so that they have hard data from their members to back up their statements.

And yes, thanks for the kind words. I do mean well, and I have the best interest of this pilot group in every thought.

I think this thread has gotten out of control. Lots of insults being hurled back and forth. Time to shut it down.

Why not just go to the back of the security line? After a week of every flight being late see how quick crew pass is approved.
