Sir, very well played.
Quote: If they did pull down the new policy, contractually wouldn't they have to go back to the old policy?
Contractually, they would have to go back to the contract language
Quote: Just got it via email, good news.

Next up, we have a policy that conflicts with the pwa. Hope nobody starts confusing the two on the skeds side.
We should take advantage of any opportunity to fix the massive pilot hostile provisions in this new/old policy then. The preface is written just horribly, and the definition section in the preface strictly limits you to "a few times in your career". Seriously? So we are a global leader in the industry and pandering to the noble HVC about our awesome service and reliablilty, but for our own pilots if our airline fails us, twice on the same day, more than three times in a 20-30-40 year career, we are called out on it?

That entire preface needs to go, period. The rest of the details are good but rest assured if we don't fix that venomous preface as soon as the ever changing winds of labor relations change, it will basically be worthless.
Re: The "new commuting policy"...

Is it just me or did anyone else take offense to the tone of the the way the policy was worded?

I'm pi**ed! We are professionals, dammit, and I deeply resent being treated like a mis-behaving child BEFORE I've done anything wrong.

I don't think it''s a stretch to say at least once a rotation I go "above and beyond" for Delta. If this is the way they think of us, they can kiss that work ethic goodbye...

Rant over.

I did not find the preface venomous personally. I read it as setting the boundaries, taking into account the 1% who may find some way to take advantage, IOW it was reasonable. If setting the ground rules to establish a level of trust is venomous, okay, but it did not read to me like the new policy would go away if one pilot had it happen 5 times.

Unfortunately, you sound like the thousands of DCI regional guys (pilots and FAs) that Delta expects to deliver "one level of excellence" for Delta passengers.
.........

In other news, here is the moron that, barring a miracle, used herbicide to kill the 130 year old oak trees at Toomers Corner in Auburn because of the Iron Bowl results and then bragged about it.

FoxNews.com - Arrest Made in Deliberate Poisoning of Historic Auburn University Oak Trees

Harvey Updyke linked to poisoned Toomer's Corner trees by voice mail to Auburn professor, police report | al.com[/QUOTE]

This is one pathetic situation. I'm an Ole Miss fan, and as such, hate Alabama AND Auburn equally (insert harmless Collegiate humor here). I've seen a fair share of cross state rivalry, but this one truly takes the cake. The rest of his entire life has just taken a dramatically unbelievable change. Human depravity never ceases to amaze me. You Auburn alum & fans, I share your indignation in this sad, sad event....
The tone of the memo was inappropriate and illustrates that manager has no idea what effect the merger has had on former Delta pilots who are getting displaced from Delta bases. My guess is that this manager's commute has not changed.

Anyone offended by the above comment, feel free to swap former Delta for former Northwest.
Quote: I love watching the spinners and sinners of FIX news go nuts anytime Soros' name is in the news! Got to feed that crack head Beck some how I guess!
You ought to do a little research into Soros and what he stands for....I'm not a huge Beck fan but he's spot on when it comes to Soros. One of my books might be a good place to start.
Quote: the NWA policy was leaps and bounds better and its back! This is great news!
Yeah, but what are you willing to give up to get an enhanced commuter policy?? Oh wait..... nevermind....
