How accurate are the gouges online? Pinnacolaba guy here looking to move on. Also do they tell you yay or nay the day of your interview?
Quote: I was hired mid April last year, finished training in mid July, and was on reserve through December. January was a partial line, Feb and March were CDO lines, and April will be a regular line. I never got within 20 hours of breaking min guarantee during the reserve months. This month I was able to trade out most of my CDO trips and get to about 80 hours. That is not a given though. Last month I wasn't able to swap any. As far as the paycheck on reserve goes, figure 75 hours plus about $150 for per diem each month. You might do better than $150 some months, but others less. If you bring a car up for training you can find a crashpad away from the training center. Or, you can find someone in your training class to share a hotel room with, and just use their shuttle. It is expensive no matter which way you go.
No hotel paid for while they train you to fly their jet? Ouch.

Gouges are accurate. You will get the yay/nay before you leave which is very nice. Good luck!
Fly,

Look over the Delta gouges as well. Some of the questions on the job knowledge test are in that gouge. The rest you can not really study for. Just relax, have fun, be yourself, and you will have no problems.

Good luck!
Does anybody have an idea on how long it takes for the pilot recruiters to get back to you? I submitted my stuff at airline apps about 3 weeks or so ago. Also, would anybody be willing to pm me a recruiter contact or ideas to get seen there?
What the callout time for reserve?
Quote: What the callout time for reserve?
2 hours call out.

We have long call provisions in the contract. Honestly this is a waste of paper, since in 5 years of existence we have never used it. even when we had about 80 extra pilots on staff when taking our initial deliveries.

Also we have airport jail and I dont think there is a limit to the amount of times you can get stuck on that.

There are several buckets (silos) you can get put into. R1-R4 and they range from I think 4am to about midnight coverage. I am not sure if they have one that goes overnight they use or not. In the past the allowed commuters to request later starts and earlier finishes, this depends on the person you talk to and the coverage, if they still even allow this much.

Honestly pretty weak contract. We have alot of room for improvement on the new one!
There is also an R5 reserve period that they give commuters on their first day sometimes. This is a late one that is I think a 1700 availability for a 1900 show. It basically covers CDO trips. I could usually get a 1400 or later show time on the first day. They were pretty good about releasing me early on the last day to make my commute. Sometimes they couldn't. Other times they would let me go in time to catch an 800 flight. The silos are actually how many days of reserve you have left in your block of days. The trips go to the guy with the lowest credit for the month in a silo. If you have 4 days left and a 4 day trip opens up they will call you if you have the lowest projected credit for the month of people in the 4 day silo. The afternoon ready reserve is supposed to go to the lowest time guy in the 2 day silo, and morning ready is supposed to go to the lowest time guy in the 1 day silo. I think that they sometimes forget about that rule. I have heard of guys getting ready several days in a row.
A lot of useful information in this tread, all of us with questions really appreciate it! One more question...is there any information / rumor / fact on how long the hiring will continue / growth rumors? Just curious...Thanks again!
You can only be assigned ready reserve for half the available reserve days in a month. They are also limited to giving you no more than 3 in a stretch. So if you have 6 days of reserve you will get no more than 3 ready reserves, and if you had 22 days of reserve you can not get more than 11 in the whole month.

Also on the last day of reserve you are released at 1800 no matter what. Only way this would not happen is if you were assigned a trip that ended after 1800.

So you should not have an issue making the last flight to most cities if you are not used.
