Im sure Im not understanding your post, but you can't be serious. Do you honestly think Delta, Fedex, UAL, AA have trouble keeping guys for the first year??? I would agree if you meant the regionals. It sucks that we have to compare Atlas to the regionals. It is a step better, but not a large step and we seem to be suffering from many of the same issues...

Facial hair
What's the policy at Atlas regarding pilots with facial hair? Is it none allowed, mustache allowed, or any facial hair allowed so long as the oxygen mask seals properly?

I just want to be in compliance with Atlas policy regarding this at the interview. My last position allowed facial hair so long as the mask seals, so I have some short facial hair.

Nothing says "one solid professional" like facial hair. The more the messier I always say.. What ever you do just don't show up clean shaven. #careerkiller

Treehorn, easy man..
In my humble opinion, this is a valid and fair question..
It's not the slightest bit uncommon for major air operators to allow well kept facial hair. In fact, I think you will find that there are more major operators allowing this, than not in the world today and there is nothing unprofessional about it.

HARP,
However, with that said, if you are unfamiliar with a particular companies policy, it's always safe to go into an interview clean shaven.
You can figure out the details later..

But as far as the official policy at Atlas goes; good question, I would like to know the answer to this as well.

What American part 121 airlines allow anything more than a mustache? This is not a valid question.

I think its just the opposite, where the first year your drinking the koolaid; loving the airplane and digging the layovers. Than the newness wears off, you get screwed one too many times by scheduling, fly with a douche of a capt, and find out the company is going to try to milk out the current contract as long as possible.

Than you find yourself updating your profile at AirlineApps, etc...

BTW, Fridays are a great time to call HR, especially if you can be in MIA by Sunday night.

I am not above doing this Are you serious?
Talked to a new hire starting Dec. He was called Mon about 1330. They asked him how soon he could be in MIA. He said about 2 hours. They told him show at 0800 Tue to start class. They had a no-show, so he started one day late. Lived in FL and told them he could start short notice.
