Thank you for all the information. I have read this entire thread because I really thought Atlas was the place for me. I'm love international flying and the variety of the schedules, as long as you get the time off to recover from it. It's really depressing watching the tone of this thread go from enthusiastic encouragement to dire warnings. While I understand that forums must be taken with a grain of salt, I learned from my experience at Emirates that sometimes these forums aren't always an exaggeration and can actually be just the first dark cloud on the horizon. It's unfortunate because I think I would enjoy the Atlas lifestyle but I can't see working for sub par wages and conditions to endure what is admittedly a difficult lifestyle. Enjoyable or not
I will be turning down any offers to test or interview with Atlas until the employees are being compensated in an fair and appropriate manner that reflects the knowledge, skills, and motivation that are necessary to make an international wide body operation successful.
Good luck in your future Atlas pilots!

When used as a noun, anal retentive does not get a hyphen.
When used as an adjective, anal-retentive does get a hyphen.
Now I am just mocking you!!

You know what you're getting when hired at Atlas. It's not the highest paying wide body job by any means, so if that's what's most important, don't go to Atlas. Nobody is twisting your arm. The people who are going to Atlas, have their own reasons, and nobody can tell somebody else that those reasons are wrong unless they've walked in their shoes. You know the schedule, you know the pay, know the benefits, so quit *****ing about things you knew beforehand. If you want intl travel, upgrade in a wide body in 5 years, and don't mind the schedule, then don't listen to all the crap on these message boards. What doesn't work for some, may work for you.

Wow, so with 1300 guys on property now, a new hire will still upgrade in 5 years? How awesome that upgrade times will never fluctuate from what's occurring right now!

Um, no. Junior 747 CA went under 5 years and is only two numbers senior to junior 767 CA. We'll see if there are any new upgrades today.
But again, that means absolutely nothing except for the guy one number junior to him.
