Well good luck then. Let me know if you hear about any specific class dates in the near future.

I wonder if the "facts" they include at the interview now include their very liberal use of furloughs and the recent trend of booking crack house hotels....this place is slipping..fast. I wonder if it's some sort of pre-negotiation maneuver so they can set that as the "status quo" for a few years or negotiating?

Quote: The CBA is cut and dry on a pilots failed training events in terms of re-checks...
The CBA?! Do you actually work here? I can't imagine any line pilot at this company saying the CBA actually saved the from anything.

I don't think he said it saved any pilots job. If you fail two training events then you employment is at the company's discretion per the CBA.

I've just left for another airline but as far as furloughs while I was there. Omni has had two since I went to work for them. Both lasted less then 6 months; one in 2009 and the other was in 2013. 2009 they furloughed out of seniority. They furloughed the junior DC-10 folks while junior 767/757 pilots stayed on the property. In 2013 they followed seniority. I cant speak about the crappy hotels because I was doing a specific contract and the hotels where good.

If even only one person learns from this thread, we've done a good thing.

I've got a few questions for the guys there. What can I expect to take home every month on first year pay? Also how do you afford to pay for food while gone for 18 days. Seems like it would be a stretch to pay for every meal while gone, especially when the dollar isn't so strong.

How long does it take to acquire enough miles to use them?

Got put in the pool and am trying to weigh all my options. Please no don't come here run stuff.

i was gonna say...especially against the EURO the dollar is better than its been in maybe 5+ years.... dollar going 20% further in Europe these days...

First...... you won't probably eat three meals a day... many hotels that ACMI crews stay at have breakfast bundled in... plus...hopefully you will fly some and on those days you will likely be catered.....

I believe the per diem rate at Omni is $48/day internationally. That may or may not be adequate for your needs overseas. Depends on how well you want to eat, but in places like Japan that amount won't go very far.

So....I did some sim work at DEN recently for a gov contractor. I checked my hotel rate at checkout. It was pretty pricy so I inquired with the front desk. I was told that I was seeing the government rate and that the gov rate always includes breakfast. Hmmmm, that breakfast is costing tax payers about $35 per day at this hotel, in addition to the room charge. I will already be receiving the daily gov per diem rate which is twice what any civilian airline pays. Man we are so screwed!

I'll be attending Omni grd schl on the 2nd in Tulsa.

Congrats on starting class. How long did it take for them to give you a class date?
