Pack Rat: sent email, heard nothing back. If things had changed the crew community would know quick enough who has a greencard, especially if you have an intimate relationship with immigration officials all over the planet. That's why I asked here.
CRJ700master: at the airlines I flew we had many foreign passports, sometimes it looked like the United Nations, all doing military flights, never a problem. Not on US bases in the US, overseas or operating into Afghanistan (which at times was the only destination it seemed) or Iraq.
Only problem is when the government implements the CRAF flying, then only US passports are good, but then you also get a Geneva Convention card and some other tidbits.
Foreign passport holders need to go through a separate TSA background check before every(!) training event (and once a foreigner obtains a US passport this does not apply anymore- what checks would have been implemented if Mohammed and accomplises had been US citizens?). Once done, it is a non-event. Just a few companies don't want to deal with this government requirement (Southern, Omni, Kalitta to name a few) so they only accept US passports which they only tell you during the interview. All their application paperwork says that you need to have the legal right to work in the US, and unrestricted passport. And we don't discriminate based on ...., national origin, ...... They just hope you will not take them to court.
And no, giving up my original passport is not an option just yet. Once my birth country allows dual passports I will be first in line to get a blue one.
I looked at the employment website thinking I would apply again, hoping requirements had changed.
